LA REPÚBLICA COLLECTION
As La República returns from the archive, it felt important to revisit the world that shaped it… family, color, travel, long days by the water, holidays, evenings out, and the quiet rituals of getting dressed somewhere between home and away.
The collection was never intended for one place or one kind of day. Tailoring sits beside swimwear, linen moves from the beach into the city, and pieces are meant to travel with you through vacations, dinners, weekends away and the everyday life waiting in between.
There is something deeply personal in that idea of movement. La República carries the memory of where we come from, while still belonging to the life we are living now.
The collection returns online tomorrow in select sizes.
ABOUT LA REPÚBLICA
La República was my love letter to the Dominican Republic.
It came from memory more than nostalgia — family, heat, color, travel, and the visual language I grew up around.
I wanted the collection to feel familiar without being literal. Something rooted in where I come from, but filtered through the person and designer I had become.
COLOR PALETTE
Apart from black, the collection’s color story is a reinterpretation of the Dominican Republic flag. Rather than take it literally, I translated it into shades that felt more emotional and lived in …steel blue, fuchsia, sand, and olive .. colors that reflect both heritage and everyday life.
SWIMWEAR
La República was born during a time when the brand was living in Miami, and swimwear naturally became part of its language. I wanted these pieces to feel seductive in a quiet way… chic, clean, and youthful, without losing a sense of respectability. Swim that felt modern enough for desire, but real enough for everyday life.
TRAVEL
For Dominicans living away from home, the trip back is never just a vacation. It carries a different kind of excitement. We dress for the airport like the trip has already begun, we clap when the plane touches down, and the second you step outside, the air feels familiar.
There is pride in returning too… seeing family, being seen, and coming home with a sense that you’ve built something while you were away. La República car
La República was born from a feeling I know well… living in the States and returning home with new eyes. The voices in the background are conversations from the Dominican Republic in the 90s: warmth, ease, humor, family, movement, life.
This collection is about that in-between space… the romance of going back, the pride of showing up a little sharper, and the quiet confidence of seeing yourself reflected in where you come from. It is about loving the country, romanticizing it, and loving yourself inside that story.
This collection is a love letter to that world: to Dominican beauty, to memory, to family, to the romance of return, and to the version of yourself that feels most seen when you are back where you belong.
But underneath that is something deeper… admiration for where you come from, and the kind of self-love that grows when you see your country not just as memory, but as beauty.
Two years later, La República returns from the archive. Selected pieces from the original collection will be released this Saturday.

Some images refuse to stay in the archive. Burning into the Abyss began with an original photograph. A sunset held onto long enough to become something else. Now it lives on the Tour Shirt.

The Gabriel Salcedo Miami Showroom was built around space, light and proportion. White walls, high ceilings, dark wood, chrome and tropical green framed through glass. Nothing was there simply to decorate. The furniture, objects, artwork and clothing all occupied the room with equal intention. For a time, this was the physical language of Gabriel Salcedo.
