Beacon Learning Collaborative RVA

Week 4 at Beacon!

Our Academic friends put their word-building skills to the test by creating words using just the first letter as their starting point. We also continued our journey through The One and Only Ivan and are loving watching the story unfold!

Our Enrichment friends used their imaginations to draw what they think The Wild Robot characters look like based on the descriptions in the story. And when the rain kept us inside, we made the most of it with colorful mosaic line paintings!

Another week full of creativity, learning, and fun with our Beacon friends!

Our first field trip of the year!

We enjoyed a relaxing day at the park playing, laughing, eating lunch, and spending time with friends. A perfect day to enjoy time together and continue building friendships!

Week 3 was another great week at Beacon RVA!

We took our learning outside to enjoy the fresh air and make observations about the world around us, kicked off our North America unit, and had some fun with The Wild Robot by camouflaging our own robots around Beacon just like Roz!

We also put our teamwork skills to the test with a challenge to see who could work together to build the longest chain.

Lots of fresh air, creativity, teamwork, and learning along the way!

Week 2 was a hot one, but we didn’t let that slow us down! We explored geography, designed robots and rovers, and practiced teamwork. Another fun week of learning and creating at Beacon!

We are thrilled to introduce Colleen Howard, our expert lead educator behind our new tutoring and academic support offerings at Beacon!

Open House Night at Beacon!

What a wonderful way to kick off a new school year!

Our students dropped off their supplies, explored the building with a fun scavenger hunt, and shared their wishes for the year ahead. But the best part was watching everyone settle in by playing, making new friends, reconnecting with old ones, and getting excited about being back at Beacon.

It was just as special seeing our parents meet, connect, and get to know the families they'll be sharing this year with.

We loved having our Beacon community together and can't wait to officially start the 2026–27 school year on Monday!

This week was all about celebrating what makes each of us unique while learning how much we can accomplish when we work together. We created a class puzzle showing how all of our different pieces come together, tackled projects and challenges as a team, and made kindness rocks to share with our Woodlake neighbors.

We also created a rainbow chain filled with all the things that make us happy!

Such a great week of friendship, teamwork, kindness, and lots of fun!
