We love helping our community learn new things, and are excited to offer another chance to learn from a national teacher/designer from the comfort of home or at the shop! Lisa Ross (aka Paper Daisy Creations) will be joining us this October, virtually from her home in Indiana. Her class, Design Your Own Multi Colored Shawl, is a journey through design that, once learned, can be easily applied to other projects. This class will teach the basics of creating an asymmetric triangular shawl, with everything you need to cast-on. Students will learn how to make the numbers add up easily with the help of a spreadsheet and how to track yardage as you create. You’ll explore how to easily incorporate color and clever stitch patterns into a design that’s as unique as you are.

You have the option to join the class from home via Zoom (link will be sent out a few days ahead of time) or gather with classmates at Dances to join from our large screen in our classroom space, where a Dances staff member will be available for additional hands-on assistance. Either way this is a great opportunity to learn from and interact with Lisa!

We'll be hosting a special hybrid virtual class with Michele on Sept 19, her Quick Start class on brioche knitting. If you've always wanted to try brioche, or been frustrated with attempts on your own, Michele will walk you through all the basics, plus cover increases & decreases to create beautiful brioche patterns, how to read brioche charts, and even fix your mistakes! She'll be teaching live on Zoom from her Portland studio and you can choose to attend at your home or gather at Dances with fellow knitters in our classroom with our giant projection screen! Either way you'll be able to interact with Michele and ask your questions; students at the shop will also have a Dances staff member for hands-on assistance. The calendar may still say July, but our thoughts are already turning to fall! Our fall classes have all been posted to our website and are now ready for sign ups! It's that time again! Join us for a month dedicated to clearing those needles & hooks and getting ready for fall making - WIP Down August! Pull out those unfinished projects, head over to the thread in our Ravelry group (link below) and let us know what you'll be working on completing. Then throughout the month of August as you finish projects you'll post FO pictures to the Ravelry thread. You can enter up to 5 finished objects and at the end of the month we'll randomly draw three winners, for a $25 gift card each!
