PCL Therapy
We are a private practice bringing quality mental health care to Wisconsin residents.
Sometimes the hardest voice to believe is your own, especially when someone else has told you that you can’t. Choosing to say, “I can do it,” isn’t about pretending everything will be easy. It’s about giving yourself permission to believe in your ability to try, grow, learn, and keep going. Speaking positive, empowering words to yourself can help challenge negative self-talk, build confidence, and shift your mindset from “I’m not capable” to “I’m willing to find out what I’m capable of.”
Your mental health matters, and so does the way you speak to yourself. You don’t have to have everything figured out before taking the next step, you just have to be willing to take it. What would change if you gave yourself permission to believe, “I can do this”? If you’re ready to explore what’s holding you back and begin building a healthier relationship with yourself, book your free consultation through my website today.

September is Su***de Awareness Month, and kindness matters because we often have no idea what someone else is carrying.
Being kind can mean listening without judgment, checking in on someone who seems withdrawn, including someone who feels left out, or simply reminding a person that they matter. A small moment of compassion may not solve someone’s struggles, but it can help them feel seen, valued, and less alone.
Kindness also helps create a culture where people feel safer talking about their mental health and asking for help. We don’t always know who is silently struggling, so choosing kindness is one simple way we can make our communities more supportive.
You never know how much a little kindness might mean to someone. 💜

Gold star behavior isn’t just about doing well or checking every box, it’s about recognizing the ways you show up for yourself, especially when things are hard.
Most importantly, remember that progress doesn’t always look like feeling better. Sometimes progress looks like understanding yourself a little more, responding differently than you used to, or simply making it through a difficult day. You don’t need to earn compassion by being perfect.
Sometimes the most important gold star you can give yourself is simply: “I’m trying, and that matters.”

I watched the Lee Lue musical not expecting it to undo me the way it did.
I never lived the Secret War. I wasn’t there for the loss, the displacement, the years my family doesn’t talk about. But watching it staged, watching our history finally given a voice, a melody, a stage, something in me recognized it before I could explain why.
That’s what generational trauma does. You don’t have to live the event to carry its weight. You grow up inside the silence it left behind. The things that were never explained. The way love and sacrifice got tangled together in your family without anyone naming it. You inherit the shape of it, even without the story.
And there was something else in that theater, a kind of validation I didn’t know I was waiting for. Our community’s sacrifice was historically secret, uncredited, unacknowledged for so long. To see it honored, sung, danced, remembered with dignity; that’s not just moving. That’s healing something that history tried to erase.
I don’t think I’m the only one who felt this. ❤️
If you watched it too: What hit you? Was there a scene, a lyric, a moment that connected to something in your own family, even if you couldn’t quite name it at the time? I’d love to hear what came up for you.
Thank Lee Lue The Musical for staging such a beautiful, heartfelt show 🎶

As a therapist, I often remind my clients that we can spend so much of our lives surviving, meeting expectations, carrying family responsibilities, and trying to make choices that feel “safe” that we forget to ask ourselves, What do I actually want?
Starting to live means giving yourself permission to take up space, choose yourself, make mistakes, set boundaries, try something new, and build a life that feels authentic, not just acceptable to everyone else. You don’t need to have it all figured out before you begin. Sometimes courage is simply taking the next small step while your fear is still in the room.
If you’re ready to stop living on autopilot and start creating a life that feels more like yours, reach out for a free consultation.

Rebuilding yourself is not always pretty or easy. Sometimes it means letting go of old versions of yourself, unhealthy patterns, relationships, or expectations that no longer serve you. But choosing to rebuild is an act of self-love. Your mental health is worth the uncomfortable growth, the boundaries, the healing, and the starting over. Keep rebuilding, you are worth becoming someone who feels at home within yourself.
