LAST CHANCE! There’s still plenty to see at the Museum this year, but if some of these exhibits are among your favorites, you’ll want to visit them this summer before they move to the Nature & Culture Museum of Wisconsin where they’ll go back on display:

In late June/early-mid-July, the Silurian Reef diorama on the First Floor and some of the animals in the Wisconsin Woodlands hall on the Second Floor, including the Beaver Habitat diorama, will be deinstalled for cleaning and repairs so they can be prepared for exhibit in NCMW.

In early August, the items and cabinetry in the Apothecary in the Streets of Old Milwaukee exhibit will be removed to be prepared for installation in NCMW. The Apothecary building facade will remain intact in Streets.

The majority of the deinstallations will take place when the Museum is closed to the public to reduce the impact on visitors. Any exhibit closures during public hours will be noted on the Tickets page. We don’t have exact dates as the timing is still fluid.

In the new Museum, the Silurian Reef diorama will be refreshed and installed in the gallery Time Travel; the Beaver Habitat diorama and the Wisconsin Woodlands animals will be on display in the Winifred & Spencer Kellogg Gallery: Wisconsin Journey; and the Apothecary items, including bottles of medicines and wood cabinetry, will be cleaned and installed in the Pharmacy exhibit in the Milwaukee Revealed gallery.

Wild Rescue (Giant Film)
Experience the inspiring journey of animals given a second chance at a wild life. Based on the work at the Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network, this uplifting film follows the dedicated teams who rescue, rehabilitate, and release injured and orphaned wild animals. With breathtaking cinematography and heartwarming moments, Wild Rescue reminds us that every creature deserves a second chance—and that hope is worth fighting for.

Join in our ecological survey at our annual BioBlitz today! Families are welcome to enjoy a variety of hands-on outdoor activities at the Wehr Nature Center in Franklin, WI from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Our friends from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will be on hand this evening at the Wehr Nature Center in Franklin to help us kick off our annual BioBlitz with special activities that are all about bats! Starting at 7:30 p.m., learn about the diversity of bats from a bat biologist, and then observe scientists at dusk and after dark as they use mist nets to safely capture, study, and monitor Wisconsin bats.

Celebrate the start of summer and Wisconsin's amazing biodiversity this Friday and Saturday by joining Museum staff and other community partners at Wehr Nature Center in Franklin for our annual BioBlitz! The weekend will include FREE nature-themed activities for explorers of all ages! Check out the schedule below:

Friday, June 12
• 7:30-8:30 p.m. | Bats of Wisconsin Presentation - A Wisconsin DNR bat biologist will share fascinating facts about the diversity of bats
• 9-10:30 p.m. | Mist Netting for Live Bats - Observe DNR scientists at dusk and after dark as they conduct mist netting for bats—a humane and vital field research method to safely capture, study, and monitor bats.

Saturday, June 13
• 9-11 a.m. | Bird banding demonstrations
• 10 a.m.-3 p.m. | Activity stations and informational tables at base camp
• 10 a.m. | Guided bird walk
• 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. | Introduction to Biodiversity Surveying presentation
• 11:15 a.m. and 1 p.m. | Conservation dog demonstrations with Mequon Nature Preserve’s conservation dog
• 12:15 p.m. | Guided dragonfly walk
• 1:30 p.m. | Guided pollinator walk
• 3 p.m. | Survey ends and total species count announced
