Milwaukee PBS mourns the loss of our longtime colleague and producer, Everett Marshburn.
Everett joined Milwaukee PBS in 2006 and spent nearly two decades helping shape Black Nouveau with curiosity, integrity and a deep commitment to telling authentic stories about Milwaukee’s Black community. He was an accomplished storyteller, mentor, colleague and friend whose work and generosity left a lasting impact on Milwaukee PBS and the community we serve.
His legacy will live on through the stories he told and the many people he inspired. Arrangements are pending.
We know Everett’s work touched many people over the years. We invite you to share your memories, reflections or messages about Everett in the comments. We will be grateful to hear them and to share the love and appreciation for Everett with his family.

Wedged between the city skyline and the open waters of Lake Michigan lies one of Milwaukee's most overlooked places. Port Milwaukee feels both public and off-limits, familiar and forgotten. Hidden behind silos, salt piles and stay-out signs, this essential waterfront is a bustling gateway to the world. It’s a working heart where ships arrive carrying commodities that quietly shape daily life. It reminds us that the city's story has always been connected to the water.
