Inner Light Rocks

Cut open 3 Crystal Canyon geodes today - 2 had beautiful crystal cavities, and the 3rd was solid inside with a green, agate-like pattern - so surprising! I'd read they could possibly be agate-like, but didn't think I'd actually get one. All still need a good cleanup - see the end of the video for the reveal!

Polishing Geodes....Hot Glue, a Tumbler and a Freezer?!?!?

Every geode I've ever tumbled came out with the inside cavity ground smooth — until now.

I found an old video of a guy who packed the cavity with hot glue before tumbling, then froze the geode afterward to pop the glue out clean. Wild idea, so I ran a batch of my own cut geodes through the whole process: glue the cavity, load stage one, first reveal, pull the frozen glue, final reveal. Crystals intact, backs polished, results are awesome.

Coincidentally, Agate Ariel - whose channel is one of the best out there for rock content - just posted a video about rocks you shouldn't tumble, geodes included, and mentioned hearing about the glue trick. Ariel, I already ran it start to finish. Come take a look.

Cutting into some beautiful Cherry Creek Jasper!

I already have a pretty good idea of what’s inside this piece, but I wanted to cut off some smooth slabs to bring more of the incredible pattern and detail to the surface.

The red, orange and green colors in this material are amazing, and every fresh cut seems to reveal another little detail.

Cut open a few rocks that didn't look like much. Something said keep going. Full polish incoming - let's see what they reveal.

don't usually cut the small ones, but wanted to give it a try. Reveal at the end, these turned out great !

Found this solo Malawi agate sitting on my workshop floor — not sure how it ended up there. Cutting into it to see what's hiding inside.

6 barrels — 60-90 grit stage done. First look at these rocks starting to shape up... still a long way to go, but you can already see the potential coming through. More stages ahead before these are ready to polish and package.
