Matthew Rucker Art

Chicago - I’m heading your way for the only Illinois show I’m doing this year. The Port Clinton Art Festival is this weekend, and I’ll be there in booth 326.
Saturday 8/29 and Sunday 8/30, 10am -5pm. I’ll see you there!

The owners of this home have watched a pair of swans raise many generations of babies in the waters outside their window, and they commissioned me to bring a bit of their world into a painting. During the install we were lucky enough to see deer, otters, and a rich variety of wildlife. What a treasure to experience.

Can’t think of a better time of year to share this brand new baby duckling painting. That little ones are popping up everywhere.

With Art-a-Whirl and art fair season right around the corner, I’ll be sharing new pieces regularly! I’ve finished several new animals, along with new paintings of favorite animals. I’m excited to see you all this spring and summer. This painting will be one of my new prints released next weekend at Art-a-Whirl! Check the website or stop into my gallery next week to see it in person

Painting the furry detailing on this soft squirrel absolutely made my day. This sweet little guy was a surprise commission birthday present, and is now happily living in his new home.

Art Attack is this weekend! -

Art Attack is this weekend! The Northrup King Building's highly anticipated fall open studio event showcases and celebrates four floors of amazing art and the artists who make up our creative community.

I’ll be making my annual trip from Minneapolis to Chicago this December to deliver and install paintings in time for the holidays! If you live anywhere along that path (Madison), I’m happy to offer free delivery and installation of any painting or fine art print during this trip. It’s a whirlwind of two days, with specific dates picked by winter weather. Guaranteed before Christmas.

For those who want a painting wrapped and opened for the holiday, I also offer delivery in a beautifully wrapped package.

I may have room for exactly one more commission on this trip - if interested, reach out ASAP.

Dot by dot, with subtle variations to create shape and shading, this whale shark is officially too large for my scanner or photographer to capture. On a deep blue, that is so dark it’s almost black, there was only one title that truly captured this painting.

Nothing says lazy days on the lake quite like the familiar call of the loon. No matter how often I hear that sound, I’ll always scan the water until I find its location, as it floats and disappears below the water’s surface. Closely connected to memories of home and cabin life, these birds are a strong symbol of calm and happiness in my life.
