With the support of a Math Tutor and daily skill-building practice, students are making impressive academic progress. Not only does this set children up for success in the later years — it positively impacts their confidence and attitudes towards math.

"I had a student who received a low score on their first benchmark assessment with me at the beginning of the year," recalls Math Tutor Nessa. "Once the student retested in the middle of the year, they saw an increase by over 20%! The way the student's smile was beaming made me so proud of how hard they worked and what they accomplished."

We are so proud of this student and every kid in Math Corps working hard to build foundational skills!

Today we are celebrating Vang! With a background in accounting and aspirations to go into finance, he joined Math Corps for a change of pace while he pursues his future career goals.

Vang says he feels great knowing he's a mentor to the students he serves. He loves seeing his students grasp new math concepts and make quicker progress as the months go by. "We, as the tutors, are going to be the mentors they never forget," says Vang.

We're so excited to have Vang back as a tutor this school year, where he will continue his work with students in Fresno, California. Thank you for your dedication to students as they make strides with their math skills, Vang!

These trainings offer tutors the opportunity to practice high-impact tutoring strategies, trade tips, and ask questions — all with the goal of leading productive tutoring sessions that improve students' math skills.

We're excited to see tutors head out to schools with these tools and strategies in tow. Thank you, tutors, for your eagerness to learn, grow, and collaborate!

Math Corps isn't new to Carolyn. As a retired Saint Paul Public Schools teacher, she saw the positive effects of the program on her students – and even served as an Internal Coach for both Reading Corps and Math Corps!

Now as a third-year tutor herself, she is proud to be back in the district using her skills to help local students and knows that Math Corps works. "I began to realize my tutoring was making a difference when the classroom teachers commented about my students showing increased confidence in math."

We're inspired by your continued dedication to helping students learns, Carolyn. Thanks for all that you do!

Tutors in Mississippi fed over 450 individuals last Friday by lending a hand at Christian Services Soup Kitchen in Hattiesburg! They spent the day preparing and delivering hot meals through both drive-thru and walk-in service, all in the spirit of uniting with the community for the national 9/11 Day of Service.

We're incredibly proud of our tutors for going above and beyond in their communities. Thank you for leading your work with such care and compassion!

Meet our partners at Horizon Elementary in Jerome, Idaho! As one of the very first schools in the state to implement Reading Corps, the team is continuing to bring high-impact tutoring to students with the addition of Math Corps this year. We're so excited to help students build their proficiency in these core subjects!

We are so appreciative of local tutors, whose service has helped 140+ students build their reading skills since 2023. The impact continues to grow with both reading and math intervention underway, led by tutors Estefany and Alicia — thank you for serving! Our thanks to everyone who works behind the scenes to make our mission possible, including Principal Jill Taylor. We're excited to serve more students as they build their skills and confidence this school year!
