TP Photo Studio

Every time I went home to Gary, I came back to this church.
Broken. Abandoned. Still standing.
One day I’m going back to create that epic photo shoot that’s been in my head all these years.

in Motion.

Then came Kimberly Steward — back in my very first studio.

Kim opened me up to a whole different side of photography. Hair. Makeup. Wardrobe. Before-and-after transformations. A whole team working together.

While I was photographing their work, I was learning too. Some of it I understood then. A lot of it makes more sense now.

And that one connection kept branching.

Kim led to Sharon.
Sharon led to the People of Color Job Fair.
That branch eventually reached U.S. Bank executives and Arctic Wolf.

One person. One opportunity. Then another branch.

2009. Olson Jr. High School.

My sister asked me to come take some pictures at a Black History program. Man, those pictures were awful but that was the day I met Reginald Ellis Johnson.
We exchanged numbers, and I never thought that was the beginning of our friendship, eventually sharing a studio together.

This isn’t where the story started.
It’s where credibility becomes visible.

I wanted to share this.

Voyage Minnesota did a feature on me and TP Photo Studio, and honestly, this one means something.

Not because it’s about me being seen, but because it shows some of the journey. The work, the growth, the struggle, the learning, and the direction God has been taking me in.

Photography opened up doors in my life that I didn’t even know were there.

This work is bigger than just taking photos. It’s about helping people see themselves, their work, their purpose, and their presence more clearly.

I’m thankful.
