“When the words are gone”

If there were words I would describe the disbelief. The disconnect of government turned against its own. The law decoupled from humanity.

If there were words I would bear witness. To those compromised by power. Corrupted by hate. Moral compass spinning to the magnetic north of spite.

If there were words I would tell you about reminders. The streets we travel. To work. To school. Outside our homes. Marked with cairns, memorials to the murdered.

If there were words I would speak of community. Connected by a shared belief. Bound together in resolve. Forever joined by trauma.

If there were words I would share my hope. For a city subjected to terror. Threatened by tyranny and made stronger by it.

But we have no words left. There is only action and emotion. Care for the victims. Love for our neighbor. Fear for our city. Grief for all we have lost. Pride for all we have gained.

The day will come. We will find the words to do this justice, where justice will not.

"What is the last thing you will ever hear?" This track is an exploration of this haunting question. A rhythmic drum beat propels the listener through a hypnotic journey filled with haunting mile markers. This was an experimental live performance in preparation for a live show in October and features the Arturia Drumbrute and KeyLab MK II. The track is constructed in Cubase.

I have ditched my music distribution company and pulled my music from Spotify. Most streaming services are clownishly evil when it come to their treat of independent artists with Spotify being the twisted ring master to rule them all.

My beloved city is under attack. Armed, masked paramilitaries in unmarked vehicles rove my neighborhood beating down anyone they please. All because we had the audacity to show compassion and support for new arrivals to this county.

I didn’t know Renee and it’s sad to think I never will. Might we have met at a block party? Or maybe our neighborhood farmers market? I didn’t know Renee but I am so proud to call her neighbor.

Although I no longer recognize my country, I recognize Renee’s spirit.
