UMN Rural Physician Associate Program - RPAP
Rural Physician Associate Program and Metropolitan Physician Associate Program Now in its 50th year, the RPAP program has had over 1600 alumni. Cloud).
RPAP was established in 1971 and founded by Dr. Jack Verby, began its mission of training University of Minnesota Medical School students to experience the life of a rural physician and to return to practice in rural Minnesota and western Wisconsin communities. MetroPAP was established in 2010 and founded by Dr. Kathleen Brooks. Students have engaged in significant social justice and community health work along with their clinical education. The students are in 9 site across the Twin Cities (and 1 in St. Now in it's 10th year, the MetroPAP program has over 40 alumni.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Larry Brettingen. He was a valued RPAP preceptor in Mora, Minnesota whose commitment to teaching, mentorship, and rural healthcare made a lasting impact on our students and communities. Two of his RPAP students later joined him in practice, a true testament to his mentorship and influence. Our sincere condolences are extended to his family and loved ones.
