Recovery Corps was launched in Minnesota by Ampact as part of our healthy futures program offerings, and has since expanded to include Illinois.

Recovery Corps expands access to needed care and promotes the recovery of individuals working to overcome opioid addiction and other substance use disorders in Minnesota, Illinois, Kentucky, and Virginia. As a national organization, Ampact demonstrates the power of national service to solve complex social problems by creating innovative programs that focus on the key areas of education, environmental stewardship, and healthy futures for communities.

Last month, we were excited to kick off our partnership with the Headwaters Regional Development Commission in Bemidji, Minnesota! The commission is very familiar with the power of AmeriCorps service — they've hosted Heading Home Corps navigators focused on helping support those facing housing insecurity since 2021. This year, that partnership expanded, and Tiffany joined their team as a Recovery Navigator. She'll spend the next several months providing peer support and resource navigation.

We're so proud of this continued partnership, and look forward to supporting the community in new ways this year. Special thank you to Sandy Hennum, Headwater's Community Development Specialist, for her belief in our mission and collaboration!

After completing his degree in psychology in 2023, Sean was looking for an entry into the recovery workforce — ideally one that let him earn hours to become certified as a Peer Recovery Specialist. Now, Sean is a CPRS and kicking off his fourth year as a Recovery Navigator!

Sean was drawn to Recovery Corps because of the benefits and certification opportunity. His favorite part of service, though, is simply supporting others. "The work is very meaningful to me," Sean says. "I really feel I'm making a difference when my participants tell me that I helped them kickstart their recovery."

Thank you for your continued dedication to serving your community, Sean. We're proud to have you as part of the Recovery Corps team!

This past Saturday, Recovery Corps staff and several local Navigators and Project Coordinators headed to Saint Paul, Minnesota, for the annual Walk for Recovery. Hosted by Minnesota Recovery Connection, it was an incredible day of connection, hope, and celebration of the recovery community.

We had fun seeing familiar faces out and about — check out some photos from the day!

We were proud to be part of Minnesota Recovery Connection's Walk for Recovery as a sponsor this year!

What makes us even prouder? Having them as a strong partner since 2017. It's been incredible to work alongside them over the years in our shared mission of strengthening the recovery community.

Meet Brittney! She is returning for her third year of service as a Recovery Navigator in Illinois. After dealing with substance use disorder for many years and ultimately finding recovery, Brittney was drawn to the opportunity to help others with similar experiences. Her favorite part of service, she says, is "getting to know people and their stories and watching them obtain a life they never thought possible."

This year, she's looking forward to connecting with participants and expanding her network. Thank you for choosing to serve, Brittney! We're excited to have you back on the Recovery Corps team.
