Weekend gut-check for the whole family: how much caffeine is actually in your cup? ☕⚡

Using the American Heart Association's numbers:
• 8 oz brewed coffee ≈ 75–165 mg
• The daily "safe" ceiling for most adults ≈ 400 mg
• A single energy shot can pack 40–69 mg per ounce — so a small bottle can rival several cups of coffee

Teens reach that ceiling far faster than adults, and the AHA links high-caffeine energy products to blood-pressure and heart-rhythm problems. Flip the can. Read the label. Know the number. 🔖

If you saw someone collapse right now, could you act? Here's the whole skill for adults, in two steps: 🫀

1️⃣ CALL 911 (or send someone to)
2️⃣ PUSH hard and fast in the center of the chest — about 100–120 pushes per minute. Tip: to the beat of "Stayin' Alive."

That's Hands-Only CPR. No mouth-to-mouth required for teens and adults. The American Heart Association says immediate CPR can double or triple survival — and most cardiac arrests happen at home, so the life you save is likely someone you love.

Save this. Better yet, come get hands-on practice with us. 💙

When a heart stops, survival drops about 10% for every minute that passes without defibrillation. EMS averages several minutes to arrive. Do the math. ⏱️

That's why an on-site AED — plus people trained to use it — is one of the smartest safety investments a business can make. AEDs are designed for ordinary people: they talk you through every step.

Offices, restaurants, gyms, churches, warehouses — if you've got people, you've got a reason. We supply AEDs and train your team to use them.

Let's protect your people. 💙

It's not just caffeine. ⚡

The American Heart Association notes that energy drinks, shots, bars and gels often contain added ingredients that can speed up how fast caffeine hits your system — accelerating its effect on your heart and raising blood pressure. That's part of why high-caffeine energy products are linked to irregular heart rhythms, even in healthy young people.

For kids and teens, whose hearts are still developing, that combination is exactly why pediatric health experts say energy drinks aren't made for them.

A good rule for the whole family: water and food for energy, not a can. 💙 Save & share.

People use these interchangeably — but they're not the same thing, and knowing the difference matters. 🫀

Heart attack = a plumbing problem. A blocked artery cuts off blood flow to part of the heart. The person is usually awake and may feel chest pain, shortness of breath, or arm/jaw discomfort.

Cardiac arrest = an electrical problem. The heart suddenly stops pumping. The person collapses, isn't breathing normally, and has no pulse. This is when you call 911 and start CPR immediately.

A heart attack can lead to cardiac arrest — which is why recognizing the warning signs early matters. Share this so someone in your circle knows the difference. 🔁

Here's a number worth sitting with: more than 500,000 children and adults have a cardiac arrest in the U.S. every year — and fewer than 15% survive. (American Heart Association)

The single biggest factor that changes those odds isn't a hospital or a doctor. It's whoever is standing there in the first few minutes. Immediate CPR can double or triple survival.

You don't need to be a nurse. You need to know two things: call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest. That's it. That's the skill that saves lives.

Ready to learn it? We'll teach you. 💙

Does your school, gym, or workplace have a written Cardiac Emergency Response Plan? 📋

When someone collapses, panic costs seconds you can't get back. A simple plan answers three questions before the emergency:
✅ Who calls 911 and who starts CPR?
✅ Where is the nearest AED — and is it charged?
✅ Who meets EMS at the door?

The American Heart Association recommends every organization that serves the public have one. We help RGV businesses build the plan AND train the team to run it.

It can happen on the field, in the gym, at practice — a young, healthy athlete suddenly collapses. Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in youth athletes, and when it strikes, every minute without CPR drops survival dramatically.

Two things save lives before EMS arrives:
1️⃣ Immediate CPR — it can double or triple survival (American Heart Association)
2️⃣ An AED used within the first few minutes

Coaches, parents, teachers — this is exactly why we train. Would the adults around your child know what to do? Tag a coach who should see this. 👇

☕ Coffee vs. ⚡ energy drinks — it's not the same drink with a different label.

Per the American Heart Association (Circulation, 2026):
• Regular brewed coffee: about 9–21 mg of caffeine per ounce
• Energy shots: 40–69 mg per ounce — 3 to 4 times more

Up to ~400 mg of caffeine a day (about 5 cups of black coffee) is safe for most adults, and 2–4 cups daily is even linked to lower risk of heart disease, heart failure and stroke. The problem with energy drinks isn't just the dose — it's how fast added ingredients push it into your system, which can spike blood pressure and heart rhythm.

Save this the next time you're comparing labels. 🔖

Parents: that energy drink your teen grabs before practice may hit their heart harder than you think. 🫀

A brand-new American Heart Association scientific statement (Circulation, July 2026) found that the caffeine levels in energy drinks and energy shots — often 3 to 4 times the caffeine of regular coffee — are linked to higher blood pressure and irregular heart rhythms, even in healthy people under 30.

For most adults, up to about 400 mg of caffeine a day (roughly 5 cups of black coffee) is considered safe. Energy drinks are a different story: same stimulant, much higher dose, plus added ingredients that speed its effect on the heart.

This week we're breaking down heart health for the whole family — kids, teens, and the grown-ups who love them. Follow along and share this with a parent who needs it. 💙
