The Mitchell Area Inclusion Coalition (MAIC) is growing, and we’re looking for "New Board Members" who want to help move our mission forward.

MAIC is about people — bringing neighbors together, building meaningful connections, celebrating the cultures and experiences that make our community stronger, and creating a Mitchell where people know they belong.

❤️ Our mission: Building a more welcoming Mitchell for all.

You don’t need previous board experience or a special title. We’re looking for people who care about our community, are willing to participate, bring new ideas and perspectives, and want to help turn those ideas into action.

📅 What does being involved look like?

Our regular MAIC meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month, with the option to participate in person or virtually.

Board Members also meet virtually on the last Wednesday of each month to help plan, organize, and keep our work moving forward.

And you don’t have to be a Board Member to get involved! Community members are always welcome to sit in on our stated meetings, learn more about what MAIC is doing, and bring their voices to the conversation.

Maybe MAIC is a place where your voice, experience, and ideas can make a difference.

There are some moments you don’t just watch — 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺.

Tomorrow, September 16, Mexico celebrates 𝟮𝟭𝟲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, and getting to experience this celebration in St. Paul was something truly special. 🇲🇽

The evening opened with Charros and traditional roping, followed by a proclamation presented in 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵 to Head Consul Alejandra Bologna Zubikarai. We also heard from St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her as she shared her support for the Hispanic community.

But 𝗘𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗼 was the moment for me. 🇲🇽❤️
Hearing the traditional cry of independence, followed by the Mexican National Anthem, surrounded by a room full of people celebrating their culture and heritage — 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲. And of course, the night ended with mariachi. 🎺❤️

As Hispanic Heritage Month begins, tonight was a beautiful reminder that 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝘁𝘀 deserve to be celebrated and carried forward.

Hay momentos que no solamente se ven — 𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻.

Mañana, 16 de septiembre, México conmemora 𝟮𝟭𝟲 𝗮ñ𝗼𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗲 𝗲𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗼 𝗱𝗲 𝘀𝘂 𝗹𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮, y poder vivir esta celebración en St. Paul fue algo verdaderamente especial. 🇲🇽

La noche comenzó con Charros y una demostración tradicional de floreo de reata, seguida por la presentación de una proclamación en 𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹é𝘀 𝘆 𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗮ñ𝗼𝗹 a la Cónsul Titular Alejandra Bologna Zubikarai. También escuchamos a la alcaldesa de St. Paul, Kaohly Her, expresar su apoyo a la comunidad hispana.

Pero para mí, uno de los momentos más especiales fue 𝗘𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗼. 🇲🇽❤️

Escuchar el tradicional Grito de Independencia, seguido por el Himno Nacional Mexicano, rodeada de tantas personas celebrando su cultura y sus raíces… 𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗱í𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿 𝗲𝗹 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗼.

Y claro, una celebración así tenía que terminar con mariachi. 🎺❤️

Al comenzar el Mes de la Herencia Hispana, esta noche fue un hermoso recordatorio de que 𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀, 𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘀 𝘆 𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘀 𝗿𝗮í𝗰𝗲𝘀 merecen ser celebradas y transmitidas a las próximas generaciones.

Today marks the beginning of 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵! 🎉

From the food we share and the music we grew up with, to the languages, traditions, stories, and values passed down through generations — our roots are something worth celebrating. ❤️

And those stories are part of Mitchell, too.

Over the next month, we celebrate the Hispanic and Latino people, families, cultures, and histories that help make our community what it is.

🔑 𝗜𝗧’𝗦 𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟!

This one feels pretty special.

After months of prayers, planning, paperwork, and a lot of moving pieces, Mitchell Regional Habitat for Humanity ReStore ®️ officially has a home!

Today we signed the lease for our new space at 1006 N. Commerce Street, Suite #4, and we couldn’t be more excited about what comes next.

The ReStore is more than a place to shop or donate. It’s another way to make housing more affordable, keep usable materials in our community, and create sustainable funding that helps Habitat continue building and repairing homes right here in Davison & Hanson Counties.

We’re incredibly grateful to the REED Fund for helping us take this big step forward.

There’s still plenty of work to do before we open those doors — but today, we’re celebrating. 🩵
