Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, honor the bravery of the first responders, and recognize all who answered the call in the days and years that followed. We will never forget.

🚨Behind the scenes with B-Shift🚨
A look at some of the training happening around the station with our newest firefighters.
Training doesn’t always have to come from a textbook or PowerPoint. Sometimes some of the best training comes from getting everyone around a whiteboard, drawing it out, asking questions, and talking through the job.
Over the past several shifts, we’ve covered everything from apparatus response, fireground operations and command structure to vehicle fires, cardiac emergencies, patient physiology, and the reasoning behind patient care.
The goal isn’t simply to memorize a policy, procedure, or treatment algorithm. It’s to understand the “why” behind what we do and develop the ability to recognize what’s happening, think through the problem, and make good decisions when the situation in front of you doesn’t look exactly like the textbook.
There’s a lot to learn when you’re new to the fire service. These whiteboards may get erased at the end of the day, but the goal is for the lessons, discussions, and knowledge shared around them to stick.
Learn the job. Understand the job. Be ready to do the job. Every shift is an opportunity to get better.
