Independence Day is almost here!

The McGovern Library will be closed on July 4th-6th. Summer hours of 7:30am-4pm will resume on Monday, July 7th.

Today we hounor Juneteenth and take time to reflect, to learn, and to celebrate freedom.

Stop by the library and explore our Juneteenth displays, featuring powerful books and stories that honor the legacy and voices of Black communities.

On May 30, Judy Lehi was honored for her 36 years of learning and service with the dedication of a tree and plaque in front of the McGovern Library.

In observance of Memorial Day, the McGovern Library will be closed on Monday. Regular hours resume Tuesday, May 27, from 7:30am to 4pm. Have a wonderful weekend!

Yesterday, Leadership Mitchell explored the McGovern Legacy Museum, The St. John’s Bible, and the Dakota Discovery Museum.

All museums and exhibits are open to the public, so feel free to stop by and check them out!

Check Out, South Dakota’s State Parks!🌲⛺️

The “Check Out, South Dakota State Parks!” program is a partnership between the South Dakota State Library and the South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks, wherein the South Dakota State Library has partnered with libraries across South Dakota to allow library patrons in good standing to check out a State Park Entrance License, free of charge, and spend a day or two exploring South Dakota’s parks.

The McGovern Library has placed the following restrictions onto this item.
- Patrons may check out the State Park Pass & Packet for up to three (3) days.
- A patron may only check out the State Park Pass & Packet once every 30 days.
- There are no renewals or consecutive check outs for the State Park Pass & Packet.
- The State Park Pass & Packet must be returned to the McGovern Library’s Circulation Desk and cannot be placed in the exterior or interior book drops.
- A short survey will be filled out upon returning the State Park Pass & Packet to the McGovern Library to assist the South Dakota State Library in data collection about this program.
