Do dads “help” with the kids… or do they parent them?

I’ve never understood the idea that when a dad changes diapers, gets up in the middle of the night, cooks, cleans, or takes care of the kids, he’s “helping” his wife.

Those are his kids too. 😂

Marriage and parenting are a partnership. Sometimes one carries more of the load than the other, and then the roles switch. That’s just life.

Being an involved dad isn’t babysitting. It’s parenting.

Are we teaching our kids that it’s okay to be wrong?

Being wrong isn’t a weakness. It’s an opportunity to learn, grow, and become better.

I want my kids to be confident enough to say, “I was wrong,” humble enough to listen, and willing to change when they learn something new.

That lesson doesn’t stop with our kids either. We could all use that reminder from time to time.

What if your kids didn’t need you to get it right all the time?

Parenting is full of moments we wish we could redo. We lose our patience, say the wrong thing, or simply miss the mark.

But maybe one of the greatest things we can teach our kids is what happens AFTER we mess up.

We apologize. We forgive. We learn. We keep loving. And we keep showing up.

They don’t need perfection. They need an example of what growth looks like.

Anyone else raising tiny professional negotiators? 😂

My kids could hear “no” five times and somehow still think we’re in the opening round of discussions.

I’ve got to respect the persistence though. 😂

What are our kids learning from the way we speak to them?

Our words have a way of becoming part of their inner voice. Encouragement, patience, correction, grace—it all matters.

We won’t always get it right, but we can always be intentional about the words we choose.

Would you be proud if your kids picked up your habits?

That question will make you think.

Our kids pay attention to a lot more than what we say. They watch how we treat people, how we handle stress, how we take care of ourselves, and how we respond when life gets hard.

None of us get it right all the time. But it’s a pretty good reminder to live in a way worth following.

What are we really teaching our kids through the everyday things?

Some of the best life lessons happen at home. Taking care of your space, preparing a meal, helping without being asked—those little things can teach responsibility, gratitude, and how to care for the people around you.

Definitely something worth passing down.

What kind of home are we creating for the next generation?

We can’t change everything about where we came from, but we can learn from it. We can keep the good, change what needs changing, and be intentional about what we pass down.

Parenting isn’t about perfection. It’s about being willing to grow right alongside our kids.

What kind of person are we raising? ❤️

As a parent, I’ve never cared nearly as much about my kids fitting in as I have about how they treat people.

Talent is great. Intelligence is great. Accomplishments are great. But character will always matter more.

Teach them to be kind. Teach them to include people. Teach them to treat others with respect—even when nobody is watching. 🙏🏼

That’s a win that goes way beyond childhood.

What are our kids really going to remember from us? ❤️

Probably not the things we bought them, but the way we lived our faith in front of them—the prayers, the choices, the hard days, and the everyday moments.

They’re watching more than we realize. 🙏
