Begg Music

Playing a free show at Queen Bean next month with some great bands, mark your calendar!

A month ago, I released Cachuma Lake. I wrote, arranged, recorded, and mixed all the parts.

It’s hard to work on something by yourself and assess it objectively. I think this is a big reason why people (me) get stalled on little details. You can't see the big picture from inside. This has stopped me from finishing music for years.

Luckily, I had help from friends and family this time. To thank a few…

Jessica, for letting me lock myself away to work and for being my guinea pig for every little mixing change no matter how tiny. And taking the cover picture!

Rosie, my lil baby, for being a good baby and not screaming all the time.

My parents, for supporting me and encouraging me to release a song, dammit.

Clark, Devin, and Jackie, for letting me “borrow” gear I’m too poor to buy and too stubborn to use MIDI in place of.

Maia, for going above and beyond with detailed feedback and discord calls to discuss mixes, giving me reference tracks and way too much enthusiasm for surfy guitars.

Nevin, for the Penny University progress reports and deadlines so I can’t just adjust my snare sound for 84 years. Without his help, I would still be mixing the song right now.

Everyone who listened to demos and gave feedback, thank you!!

And thank you to everyone who listened to this song! I think this first release was the final step I needed to start sharing my work more freely. Here’s to many more songs!

Love,
-Spencer

Had a grand old time playing a set for the Night Market! If you get a chance to make it to any of the , I'd recommend it. Can't wait to show the music I've been writing soon 🤞
