Attention Downtown Modesto businesses - The intersection of 10th Street and J Street will be closed to traffic this Sunday, September 20, 2026, 7am to 7pm, while crews install the poles on each corner of the intersection for the new Downtown Lighting Project.

The Downtown Lighting Project is funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and is a collaboration among the Downtown Modesto Partnership, City of Modesto - City Hall and Collins Electrical.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as this work takes place. The project is an important investment in Downtown Modesto, helping create a safer, more welcoming, and vibrant environment for businesses, residents, and visitors.

There’s a lot happening behind the scenes in Downtown Modesto…and we’re giving you a peek!

Between the City of Modesto’s Clean California project + ARPA Beautification funding awarded to DoMo Partnership by the City, some exciting improvements are already underway, with more on the horizon.

And to everyone who shows up, speaks up + keeps pushing for positive change—thank you. Your voices matter, and they’re being heard.

Over the next several days, we’ll be sharing a closer look at projects already underway + those approved by City Council and coming soon.

Downtown parking is no longer handled by City Finance, it has been taken over by the Modesto Police Department.

When parking downtown please be aware of time limits and parking constraints.
