We don’t see many bunnies on the property…and the naked ladies (spider lilies) are starting to pop

Isaac Henry Bry immigrated to America from Geneva, Switzerland in 1801 and arrived in Ouachita Parish in 1803, the year of the Louisiana Purchase, where he fell in love with the land. In 1814, he built the original raised cottage that would become the heart of what is now Layton Castle. A prominent figure in the region, Bry was deeply woven into Monroe's early history: he helped secure the city's modern name, "Monroe," and served as one of the signers and authors of the Louisiana Constitution.

From 1814 to 1915, Layton Castle underwent many renovations and additions. To this day, our family thoughtfully works to preserve history while making improvements so the castle is comfortable for visitors and residents.
