Kilroy was here… and now he’s recruiting. 👀

This classic WWII doodle just showed up on the front door of Ward Roney Junior VFW Post 7511, and he’s got a message for eligible veterans in the Monroe area: Join the VFW.

During World War II, American GIs left the “Kilroy was here” graffiti (the bald guy with the big nose peeking over a wall) all over Europe, the Pacific, and anywhere else they went. It became a running joke and a quiet way of saying “the Americans were here.” Now Kilroy’s on our front door inviting the next generation to show up, stick around, and keep serving.

Huge shoutout to one of our amazing Auxiliary members for painting this awesome Kilroy and giving our post some serious personality. She crushed it.

Do you qualify for the VFW? Membership requires honorable service in the U.S. Armed Forces and service in a war, campaign, or expedition on foreign soil or in hostile waters (proven by a campaign medal, Hostile Fire/Imminent Danger Pay, or qualifying Korea service). If you meet those requirements, we’d love to have you. If you don’t but are related to an eligible veteran, check out the VFW Auxiliary.

This past week, our Past Department Commander and fellow 7511 Comrade proudly presented our Auxiliary President, Debbie, with her hard-earned Veteran of the Year cover!

What makes this moment truly special? This award has never been given to an Auxiliary member before — so the Commander went straight to the top and secured special permission from the National Auxiliary President to make it happen.

Debbie served honorably in the U.S. Navy and has dedicated her life to tirelessly supporting veterans and their families. She’s the kind of person who never stops giving — an absolute powerhouse and an inspiration to everyone in our Post.
