Kennedy, Kona, and their family are truly something special. ❤️
Watching Kona do what he was trained to do and seeing the confidence and independence he’s given Kennedy is exactly why I love this work.
Kona was trained here at Meraki K9, but the real magic happens because his family has been so dedicated to reinforcing his training every single day. I always tell my clients that training doesn’t end when your dog goes home—it grows through consistency, and Kennedy’s family is a perfect example of that.
I couldn’t be prouder of this team and everything they’ve accomplished together. Thank you for trusting me to be a small part of your journey.
Be sure to check out their incredible story in the video below! 🥹🐾

I have had a ton of people ask how old a dog had to be to start training for diabetic alert…check out Beacon who is 14 weeks old and crushing it! Way to go, Beacon!

We are beyond proud to share this moment! 🐾💙
Meet Kona, a remarkable Portuguese Water Dog who was trained here to be a diabetic alert dog for a very special little girl named Kennedy. Kona alerts to dangerous changes in Kennedy’s blood sugar levels—helping to keep her safe every single day.
Training Kona to detect these life-saving changes and build such a powerful bond with Kennedy and her family has been an incredible journey. As a trainer, these are the moments that stay with you forever.
We’re honored and thrilled to see their story featured on Newsweek.com! 🙌
It’s a beautiful reminder of the life-changing impact a well-trained dog can have—and why we pour our hearts into every dog we work with.
