As many of you know, Suzani textiles are amongst my favorite and most treasured textiles of the world! These charming, one of a kind pieces showcase the expertise, soul and creative expression of their makers. I buy them in Istanbul, but they are made in Uzbekistan a vast country in Central Asia. They are festooned with traditional motifs of fruit and florals symbolizing abundance and fertility. Often used as table cloths, others use them as drapes, bed covers, pillow cushions or wall hangings. Our collection of bright white glazed ceramics made in Paris look fantastic with all the different colors and patterns. We always have a beguiling array of fashion jewelry in store and this capsule collection of aquamarine is noteworthy. We’re all talking about The Odyssey and I imagine that Odysseus and his men wished they’d had aquamarine on board to protect them! In addition to the various aquamarine jewelry shown above, there are pink amethyst, yellow citrine, baroque pearls, turquoise and more to be discovered. This jewelry designs are inspired by the Byzantine and Renaissance eras, its gold plate, set with incredible stones and pearls.

My love affair with Morocco began over 40 years ago when I was a student in Rome. While on spring holiday, we ended up in Morocco rather than England, staying with a Berber family, guests at their farm and compound outside of Marrakech. After we were situated in the guest room, they took us outside for evening tea at sunset, arrayed on a beautiful carpet laid upon a field, the grain swaying in the evening breeze. All these years later I’m delighted to bring you many special things from this country of incredible culture and talent. And did you know?! Morocco was the very first nation to recognize the independence of the United States? In 1777 Sultan Mohammed III declared Americans safe harbor in their ports leading to the 1786 Treaty of Peace & Friendship between our two countries. Centuries later,I’m on the delightful rooftop wearing a sweet frock from Paris, a casual, easy, happy, dress perfect for many a summer day.
