π September is National Recovery Month π
This month, we recognize and celebrate the strength, resilience, and progress of individuals and families affected by substance use and recovery. Recovery looks different for everyone, and having access to support, resources, and life-saving information can make all the difference.
Save a Life Day β September 24
On September 24, communities across West Virginia and the nation will come together for free naloxone (Narcan) giveaways and training. Naloxone can reverse an opioid overdose and give someone a second chance. Learning how to use it could help save a life. https://savealife.day/
Recovery & Disability
Did you know substance use disorder can intersect with disability? It's important to understand the resources and protections available to people experiencing co-occurring substance use and disability. https://www.addictioncenter.com/addiction/disability/
Know Your Rights
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) provides protections for individuals with substance use disorder who are in recovery. Understanding these protections can help individuals access opportunities, services, and support without discrimination. https://adata.org/factsheet/ada-addiction-and-recovery/
π HELP4WV
HELP4WV offers free, confidential resources and support for West Virginians seeking help with mental health and substance use concerns. https://firstchoiceservicesinc.my.site.com/Help4WV/
This National Recovery Month, let's continue to educate, support, reduce stigma, and remind people that recovery is possible. π
Save a Life Day Save a Life Day is a grassroots national day of action equipping the public to recognize and reverse an overdose. It started in two West Virginia counties. Today, all 50 states participate.
