Today we were honored to welcome Dr. Dodi Hodges, Founder and Executive Director of Palmetto Literacy Council, to the Rotary Club of Murrells Inlet.

Dr. Hodges shared with us the incredible work Palmetto Literacy Council is doing to address the literacy crisis in our community. Their work helps children and adults build essential reading, writing, and math skills - skills that can open doors to education, employment, independence, and opportunity.

Thank you, Dr. Hodges, for joining us today and for the important work you and Palmetto Literacy Council are doing throughout our community!

What exactly is Rotary?

We’re neighbors, local business owners, community leaders, retirees, professionals, and friends who get together because we believe our community is better when people show up for it.

The Rotary Club of Murrells Inlet exists to connect, learn about what’s happening in our area, support local organizations, and find practical ways to serve our community.

Sometimes that means raising money. Sometimes it means volunteering. Sometimes it means hearing from someone doing really interesting work right here on the South Strand. And sometimes it’s simply lunch with a group of people you might not have met otherwise.

You don’t have to know anything about Rotary to come visit. You just have to be curious about your community.

A changing of the guard at the Rotary Club of Murrells Inlet!

Yesterday, we officially welcomed our new Club President, Krissy, as outgoing President Troy handed over the reins after two years of leadership and service.

A huge thank you to Troy for all he has given to our club, and here’s to a great year ahead as we continue serving our community, building connections, and putting Service Above Self into action!

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Susan Bryant, Executive Director of the Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art, to the Murrells Inlet Rotary Club!

Susan shared how the festival is about so much more than incredible performances each fall. Through its educational outreach programs, the organization is inspiring creativity and bringing the arts to children throughout our community... a mission we were proud to learn more about.

Thank you, Susan, for sharing your passion and the impact your team is making. If you're looking for a fantastic way to enjoy world-class entertainment while supporting arts education right here in our community, be sure to check out the Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art and their upcoming fall season. 🎶🎨

Learn more and see this year's lineup at PawleysMusic.com. The festival's mission is to provide diverse music, arts, and educational programs that educate, entertain, and inspire.

Have you ever wondered what Rotary actually is?

Rotary is more than weekly meetings - it's neighbors, professionals, retirees, and community members coming together to make a difference right here in Murrells Inlet and around the world.

From local service projects and scholarships to disaster relief, clean water, literacy, and peacebuilding, Rotary members believe that ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things when they work together.

We'd love to meet you!

It was a pleasure to welcome several distinguished guests to the Rotary Club of Murrells Inlet today!

Thank you to U.S. Congressman Russell Fry (SC-07), State Representative Heather Crawford (District 68), and State Representative Lee Hewitt (District 76) for joining us and sharing your time with our members.

Rotary is at its best when community leaders come together to discuss the issues, opportunities, and partnerships that help strengthen Murrells Inlet, Georgetown County, Horry County, and the Grand Strand.

We appreciate your service and your commitment to the people of South Carolina.

The Murrells Inlet Rotary Flounder Tournament organizers wish to thank all anglers and sponsors for their participation and support, which have made this year's event successful. The winners will be announced in the next couple of days.
