Today, the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Accountability advanced H.R. 6610, the Pharmacists Fight Back in Federal Employee Health Benefit Plans Act, during a full committee.
Key Details of H.R. 6610
• Target: Focuses on pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) within the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program.
• Fair Reimbursement: Sets new standards for how PBMs reimburse community and retail pharmacies.
• Rebate Usage: Requires manufacturer rebates to directly lower out-of-pocket prescription drug costs for plan beneficiaries.
• Anti-Steering: Prohibits PBMs from steering patients toward or favoring PBM-affiliated pharmacies.
• Enforcement: Establishes compliance requirements and penalties for violation
