This week, Recruit Class 26-09 completed SCBA Week at the Muscle Shoals Regional Training Center.

Throughout the week, recruits worked on essential firefighter skills, including searching for and removing victims from a structure, operating in limited-visibility conditions, and building confidence while working in full PPE and SCBA.

SCBA Week is an important part of recruit school and helps prepare these future firefighters to remain calm, confident, and effective in challenging environments.

This evening at approximately 4:30 p.m., Muscle Shoals Fire Department’s A- Shift was dispatched to a structure fire in Station 3’s district.

Crews arrived on scene and were able to extinguish the fire shortly after arrival. Thankfully, everyone inside the residence was able to make it out safely, and no injuries were reported.

While we are grateful there were no injuries, our thoughts are with the homeowner as they deal with the loss and damage to their property.

Today, Muscle Shoals Fire Department, along with Muscle Shoals Police Department, Colbert EMA/911, Keller EMS, local hospital staff, and Northwest Alabama Regional Airport staff, participated in a full-scale aircraft emergency drill.

Exercises like today’s drill allow all responding agencies and healthcare partners to work together, practice coordination, and ensure we are prepared to safely and effectively respond to and mitigate an aircraft emergency should one occur at the Northwest Alabama Regional Airport.

We would also like to thank the students from Muscle Shoals Career Academy and the Northwest Shoals Community College EMS program for assisting with today’s exercise by playing the role of victims. Their participation helped make the drill more realistic and provided responders with valuable hands-on training.

We appreciate everyone who participated and helped make today’s exercise a success. Training together before an emergency happens helps ensure a coordinated and effective response when it matters most.

Today, shortly after 2:00 PM, Muscle Shoals Fire Department was dispatched to assist Spring Valley Fire and Littleville Fire with a structure fire.

Crews were met with heavy fire conditions upon arrival. Firefighters from all three departments worked together to bring the fire under control and extinguish it.

We are fortunate to have a great working relationship with our neighboring fire departments. Mutual aid and teamwork are essential in the fire service, and we are always glad to assist our neighboring departments when needed.

Great job by everyone involved!

We're proud that Long-Lewis Muscle Shoals was able to donate bottled water to the dedicated men and women of the Muscle Shoals Fire Department as they continue serving and protecting our community.

Hydration Tip: Don't wait until you're thirsty to drink water. During hot weather, aim to drink water consistently throughout the day and increase your intake when spending time outdoors.

Thank you to our local firefighters for all they do to keep Muscle Shoals safe!
