💜 Another beautiful Unity delivery completed! 💜

Today, Melissa and her son received an entire new-to-them wardrobe including lots of shoes—and what a blessing it was! Some items were gently loved, many were brand new, and everything was in absolutely beautiful condition. Seeing how genuinely elated Melissa was made every bit of coordinating worth it. 💜

A huge thank you to Sundown Restaurant & Sports Pub and their incredible patrons who continue to step up when our community has a need. And to Cecilia and Drifters Saloon Myrtle Beach ,—a million thank-yous. The clothing you gifted didn’t simply fill bags; it gave a mom and her son things they needed while reminding them that their community cares about them.

This is why we use the word gifted at Unity. There is a person on both sides of every gift—one neighbor saying, “I have something I can share,” and another being reminded, “Someone thought of me.”

Melissa was absolutely thrilled, and that joy belongs to every person who helped make today possible. 💜

Thank you for continuing to show us what can happen when neighbors take care of neighbors.

One heart. One community. One future. 💜

Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday afternoon 💜

💜 THIS is what community looks like. 💜

Today was a pretty special day for Unity Community Myrtle Beach. Darren, our veteran, now has everything he needs to make his house truly feel like a home. 🇺🇸💜

A huge thank you to Ryan Christopher and Larry Lee Peiffer Jr., who handled today’s move and delivered a beautiful sofa and matching chair to Darren. His living room is now complete—and more importantly, Darren is happy.

We’ve watched his home come together piece by piece, with different members of our community stepping in along the way. Today felt like putting that final piece of the puzzle into place.

Well… almost. 😊 Now we just need a few pictures or pieces of wall art to bring some life to those walls! If anyone has some beautiful artwork or framed pictures they’d like to gift, let us know.

Ryan and Larry, thank you for your time, your muscles 😂, and most importantly, your hearts. You helped make a veteran’s house feel like his home today.

And Darren—we hope you sit back in that new living room tonight, look around, and know that your community is right there with you. 💜🇺🇸

📣 META — WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT HOUSING SCAMS.

This is becoming far too serious to simply tell people, “Be careful online.”

According to the Federal Trade Commission, consumers reported nearly 65,000 rental scams and approximately $65 MILLION in losses since 2020. And during the 12 months ending June 2025, about HALF of the people who reported a rental scam and identified a platform said it began with a fake ad on Facebook.

That should concern every one of us.

At Unity Community Myrtle Beach, we work with seniors, people with disabilities, veterans, and families who are desperately searching for safe, affordable housing. We see how vulnerable someone can become when they’re facing displacement and finally see a rental they believe they can afford.

Then imagine discovering the “landlord” never owned the property.

The FTC warns that scammers copy legitimate listings, steal photographs, change the contact information and collect deposits, application fees—and sometimes sensitive personal information that can be used for identity theft.

Yes, individuals need to be cautious.

But responsibility cannot rest entirely on the person being victimized.

Meta has enormous technological capabilities. To its credit, Meta says it removed more than 159 million scam ads in 2025 and millions of accounts associated with criminal scam centers.

But the FTC also reports that in 2025, consumers reported losing $2.1 BILLION to scams that began on social media, and reported losses from scams beginning on Facebook were greater than on any other social-media platform.

Those two facts need to exist in the same conversation.

We are calling on Meta to continue going further.

Housing advertisements deserve stronger verification. Accounts repeatedly advertising rentals deserve greater scrutiny. Stolen property photographs and duplicate listings should trigger safeguards. People should have an effective way to report suspicious housing listings before another family loses its savings.

Because when someone steals $1,000 from a person desperately trying to find housing, they haven’t simply stolen money.

They may have stolen that person’s security deposit, their moving money, their chance to get out of a motel, or their opportunity to put a roof over their children’s heads.

Technology helped create the scale at which these scams can reach people.

Technology should also be part of protecting them.

Until then, Unity will continue doing what we always do:

Trust—but verify. 💜

Please, neighbors: do not send money for a rental simply because a Facebook profile and listing look legitimate. Verify the property and the person behind it first.

One heart. One community. One future. 💜

Good morning, Myrtle Beach friends and family! ☕️💜
Happy Tuesday, September 22! Here’s a little look at our day along the Grand Strand.

🌦️ Today’s weather: Expect a mostly cloudy, warm day with a high near 82°F. Showers and thunderstorms are possible, especially this morning, so keep an umbrella handy and allow a little extra time if you’re heading out.

📍 Around town today:
The Surfside Beach Farmers Market is scheduled for 10 a.m.
SOS Fall Migration continues in North Myrtle Beach, bringing s**g dancing and visitors to the Main Street area through September 27.

Looking for an indoor activity? Grand 14 Cinema at The Market Common has its Tuesday bargain-ticket special, and the Charles Bach Wonders! Magic & Illusion Show is scheduled for 7 p.m.

💜 A little Unity reminder: Our community is made stronger by the everyday things we do for one another. A ride to an appointment, a piece of furniture gifted to a family, a phone call to check on an elder, or a few minutes spent listening can change the course of someone’s day.
We have a busy week ahead coordinating rides, furniture moves, and upcoming community celebrations.

Thank you to everyone who continues to lend a hand, share our posts, and look out for their neighbors. We’re growing together, one act of kindness at a time.

Have a beautiful Tuesday, Myrtle Beach. Stay safe on the roads, keep an eye on the weather, and remember that someone in your community may need the kindness only you can offer today.

One heart. One community. One future. 💜

💜 A Little Update from Unity Community Myrtle Beach 💜

Our days have been full lately! Between coordinating rides, arranging furniture pickups and moves, organizing storage, and following up with the families and neighbors we serve, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes.

We’re also busy planning some very special events: our one-year Unity celebration, the golf cart run for Amelia, and our Christmas celebration for our community. 🎄

As Unity grows, so do the number of messages, calls, and moving pieces we’re juggling. We’re doing our very best to respond to everyone, but sometimes it may take us a little longer than we’d like.

If you haven’t heard back from us, please feel free to send a friendly reminder! We welcome it. We don’t want anyone to feel forgotten, and a follow-up message helps us make sure nothing slips through the cracks.

Thank you for your patience, your kindness, and for growing alongside us. Every ride, every piece of furniture gifted, every volunteer hour, and every neighbor looking out for another is what makes Unity possible. 💜

One heart. One community. One future.
