Celebrate the launch of the Oesterle Library Trinket Trade Locker at our Crow Party! Bring a keychain, friendship bracelet, handful of gems, or other trinkets for trade! Turn a trinket into a keychain! Make a friendship bracelet!

A tutorial and supplies will be provided for keychain and bracelet making. We will also have snacks! ✨

The concept comes from a crows love of shiny little things, and collecting them. How cute! They’re just like me. 🥺

The Cardinal Trinket Trade Locker is OPEN!

We've been working on this project over the summer and we're so excited to finally share it with the NCC community! Stop by Oesterle Library and visit the locker in the lobby. Open the doors and explore what's inside! You can take a trinket, keychain, fidget, sticker, zine, or book that calls to you AND you can leave a treasure for someone else to find!

The North Central College Archives invites you to take a look back at Naperville through its new photo exhibition, “Robert Shoemaker’s Images of the Naperville Community, 1975-1985.” It is on view in the Oesterle Library Gallery now until September 25th, 2026, with a reception on Thursday, August 20th.

The exhibition features a selection of photographs from the Caroline Shoemaker Memorial Collection of Naperville Pictures, which comprises more than 3,000 35mm slides documenting the beauty of community in Naperville. Dr. Robert Shoemaker taught history at North Central from 1960 to 1981. While residing in Naperville, he also did photographic work for the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau.

🌏 Where in the World Are Our Oesterle Student Workers?

2026 Edition! 🗺️✨

Last summer, we told you about our students’ adventures. From the rolling green hills of Ireland to the beautiful streets of Italy, our students were exploring it all!

Now, they’re back with new faces and new adventures.

Grace Murdock (’27), Oesterle’s Student Assistant and Engagement Intern, traveled to Japan! 🇯🇵 From Osaka to Nara to Tokyo, she explored it all.

Nicole Posont (’27), Oesterle’s Student Assistant, traveled to China! 🇨🇳 She visited one of the world’s most iconic landmarks: the Great Wall of China.

📣 Calling all North Central College artists and magic-makers! Our wonderful outreach and engagement librarian, Rebecca Strang, is conjuring up a Trinket Trade Locker right here in Oesterle Library!

📚 It's like a "Little Free Library" for art and small treasures. This whimsical locker is a community space where you can swap tiny delights all year round.

🎨 The locker will launch with a Crow Party this fall, but over the summer we'll be decorating it for its debut! We want YOUR art to help it bloom: donate your handmade stickers to be permanently sealed onto the locker door as a vibrant mural, or bring in small prints (5x7 or smaller) to be displayed on tiny easels for others to admire and take home! We're also collaborating with to decorate the outside of the locker!

🌈 So, whether it's zines, charms, or fandom flair, come leave a piece of your heart in our library so someone else can fall in love with your magic! This fall you'll be able to leave a trinket and take a trinket!
