Hurricane season is ramping up - are you ready?

TROPICAL UPDATE: The NHC has bumped odds for development in the Gulf to now 30%, but what you see on radar drifting west (shown below) this afternoon looks worse than what is actually happening. Thankfully that’s not an eye either!

Think of the atmosphere like a birthday cake with multiple layers. What you see below is a low and swirl at the mid-levels or middle of the cake, but not at the surface which is needed for a tropical system. Could it get a surface low in the days ahead? If it spends more time over the water, it’s possible. But again, the NHC has the odds currently pinned at 30% so it’s not a guarantee. Next name is .
