Celebrating Women in Medicine Month!
The NCH Women’s Physician Society recently brought together 40 women across the NCH medical community, including residents, fellows, APPs, and physicians, for an inspiring panel discussion at Moorings Park.
The conversation, “Navigating the Landscape of Medicine,” explored the experiences, challenges, and opportunities women encounter throughout their careers, while creating space for connection, mentorship, and shared perspectives.
Thank you to our panelists, Dr. Navas, Dr. Hoytfox, Dr. Bendeck and Dr. Patterson, for sharing their insights and experiences, and to everyone who joined this meaningful conversation.

After heart failure made it difficult for Naples resident Mike Sayen to even climb a flight of stairs, a minimally invasive heart procedure at the NCH Rooney Heart Institute helped him get back to doing what he loves: riding his bike. 🚲

Dr. Viviana Navas, Section Head of Heart Failure at the NCH Rooney Heart Institute; Dr. Rachael Venn, electrophysiologist at the NCH Rooney Heart Institute; and Dr. Aschanti Abarca Selva, family medicine physician at Gulfshore Concierge Medicine, spoke with residents of The Club at Grandezza in partnership with the American Heart Association - Florida.
As an all-women panel, our physicians shared practical heart health tips and insights into how NCH is bringing advanced cardiovascular care to our community. We’re grateful for the opportunity to get out into our community and share useful health information with our neighbors!
