The final layer of Okra! 🌿
This video shows the last stage of printing my reduction linocut, Okra.
A reduction print is built one color at a time from the same block. After each color is printed, I carve away more of the block before printing the next layer. By the time I reach this final dark layer, much of the original block has been carved away.
There’s always a little suspense when I pull that final print. This is the moment when the separate colors and shapes finally come together as one image.
I’m very pleased with how this one turned out.
So true

This is where my love of art and museums began. As a child, I came to the Speed Museum and wandered through Satterwhite Hall. I would pretend these rooms were my house. I didn’t know then how much of my life would eventually revolve around art, museums, and the preservation of objects like these. Coming back now feels like returning to the beginning.

One of Louisville’s iconic structures is the WaterWorks. It stood very near my grandmother’s house, so it was part of the landscape I knew growing up. Its unusual architecture has always fascinated me, and seeing it again brings back so many memories of Louisville.
