The tournament will be played in a scramble format and includes contests, raffles, prizes, and a steak tip lunch following the round.

Registration is $150 per person, and foursomes, pairs, and individual golfers are all welcome.

From the parade to a spectacular fireworks display, it was great to see the Needham community come together for another memorable Fourth of July celebration. None of it would be possible without the tireless work of the Needham Exchange Club. Thank you for making this cherished tradition happen year after year. We were also honored to celebrate with this year’s Grand Marshal, 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗟𝘆𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝘀 🌀

While thousands enjoyed the festivities, behind the scenes Needham Fire staffed not only our in-service apparatus, but also numerous detail personnel throughout the event from Memorial Field to the rooftop. From Massachusetts Department of Fire Services to our Chief, Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, Fire Inspectors, on-duty officers, firefighters, and paramedics to our mutual aid partners, everyone worked together to ensure another safe and successful celebration.

A special thank you to our partners at Needham Police for coordinating event safety and logistics, as well as Babson College Department of Public Safety (love u), the Norfolk County Sheriff (MA), Mass State Police, and all of our mutual aid partners for helping keep our community safe.

Needham Fire was proud to join our partners at Needham Police as a combined Honor Guard, a ceremonial unit that presents the colors and represents our departments at significant community events. We also welcomed our first female firefighter to the Honor Guard over this past year. We had all of our apparatus cleaned and ready to show off as well as visiting towns!

Yesterday, Needham Fire responded to a report of potentially hazardous methanol drums. Out of an abundance of caution, the District 2 Haz-Mat Response Team was requested to assist with assessment and mitigation efforts. We’re grateful for the expertise of all personnel involved, including Needham Firefighter Jon Yule, who serves as a member of the District 2 Haz-Mat Team. His quick coordination helped ensure the appropriate resources were brought to the scene and that the incident was handled safely and effectively.

Most importantly, testing confirmed there was no active hazard, no threat to the public, and no impact to the environment. Thank you to our partners at District 2 Haz-Mat and all responding agencies for helping bring this incident to a safe resolution.

A fortunate outcome from what could have been a much more serious incident. We’re grateful that the child involved in yesterday’s crash is expected to make a full recovery. We are proud to work with the finest Needham Police Department as we witness their compassion on calls that are both scary for kiddos and parents. We are lucky that our community has bystanders always ready to help and support us in all our operations.

As warmer weather brings more people outdoors, our roads become busier with pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles sharing the same spaces. This is a reminder for all of us to slow down, be aware of our surroundings, and exercise extra caution when traveling through neighborhoods, school zones, parks, and busy intersections.

Yesterday at approximately 4:30 p.m., Needham Police received numerous calls reporting a motor vehicle collision involving a child at the intersection of Great Plain Avenue and Pickering Street.

Needham Police and Needham Fire personnel responded immediately to the scene. The vehicle involved was a USPS postal vehicle, which remained on scene and cooperated fully throughout the initial investigation.

One juvenile was transported to Boston Children’s Hospital with injuries. Fortunately, the injuries are not life-threatening, and a full recovery is expected.

The investigation remains active as officers continue to gather and review video footage, witness statements, and other evidence related to the incident. No further information is being released at this time.

This incident serves as an important reminder for all motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians to remain vigilant and attentive while traveling throughout the community. With the arrival of warmer weather, pedestrian activity increases significantly, particularly in high-traffic areas, near schools, parks, and local businesses.

In response to ongoing concerns regarding traffic safety, the Needham Police Department has increased traffic enforcement efforts throughout town, with a particular focus on Needham Square and other areas that experience heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Officers will be conducting targeted enforcement aimed at speeding, failure to yield to pedestrians, distracted driving, and other violations that contribute to unsafe roadway conditions.

81 years ago, brave men stormed the beaches of Normandy and changed the course of history.

This week, members of the Needham Fire Department had the privilege of helping es**rt World War II veterans to the airport as they embarked on a journey back to Normandy for the D-Day anniversary. Standing alongside these heroes was a powerful reminder that the freedoms we enjoy today were earned through extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and service. It is an honor to help recognize and thank those who answered the call when their country needed them most.
