As summer winds down and school supplies start reappearing around the house, it's a great time to check in on how your child is feeling about the year ahead. New classrooms, new teachers, and new social dynamics can bring up a lot — for some kids that shows up as excitement, but for others, it plays out as worry or moodiness.

As summer winds down and backpacks, school supplies, and new schedules start making their way back into the house, it’s a great time to check in with your child about how they’re feeling about the year ahead. 💛
A new classroom, new teachers, and changing friendships can bring up BIG feelings. Some kids feel excited and ready to go. Others may experience worry, irritability, mood changes, self-doubt, or social stress.
And sometimes, kids don’t have the words to tell us what’s going on.
At Child Therapy Boston, individual therapy gives children and teens a warm, supportive space to work through whatever they’re experiencing , whether that’s anxiety, self-esteem struggles, peer conflict, family changes, grief, or simply the everyday challenges of growing up.
Through play, art, writing, mindfulness, relaxation, bibliotherapy, and child-friendly CBT, we meet each child where they are and tailor therapy to their personality, needs, and pace. We also partner with parents along the way, because meaningful change happens when therapy and home work together. 🌱
Our goal? To help kids build the coping skills they need to feel confident, connected, and ready for whatever comes next.
If back-to-school is bringing up some big feelings for your child or you’re simply noticing that they could use a little extra support.... we’re here. 💛

Someone’s gotta teach frustration tolerance… 😂🟩
Building frustration tolerance can be HARD, but practicing these skills with a child therapist can make those challenging moments a whole lot more manageable.
We help kids build the tools to handle disappointment, big feelings, and the occasional… UNO REVERSE. 😏
And honestly? Our therapists kind of love the challenge too. 💚😂

Teen Tuesday: “You HAVE to Hear This Song!”
There is something really special about the moment your teen starts sending you music.
“Listen to this part.”
“You have to hear this song.”
Sends you a song with absolutely no explanation.
It might seem small, but music can be a really meaningful way for teens to communicate.
Sometimes they're sharing a feeling.
Sometimes they're sharing a memory.
Sometimes they're showing you something that feels important to them.
And sometimes they're simply saying:
“This is a part of my world. I want you in it.” 💛
When your teen shares music with you:
🎧 Listen. Even if it's not your style.
💬 Ask what they like about it.
❤️ Pay attention to the lyrics or message.
🎶 Share a song from your own teenage years.
🚗 Let music become part of your connection...on car rides, while cooking, or just hanging out.
You don't have to love the song.
You just have to recognize the invitation.
Because sometimes “You have to hear this” is really a teen's way of opening the door and saying, “Come into my world for a minute.”
Inspired to share thanks to Robyn Isman ⭐️ Therapist + Coach for Parents of Anxious Kids
I mean a therapist will be there in every situation.....even if we don't know the best next steps

Everyone ate dinner without asking, “What’s for dinner?”
No one needed the menu.
No one requested a different meal.
No one stared into the fridge like I hadn't just made food.
Everyone just... ate.
I don't know what happened, but I'm not asking questions.
We'll take the win. 🙌🍽️

Playing outside with my son. Well standing while he plays. He picked me a flower.
“Awe, thank you sweetie. Does it smell?”
“Maybe a little…like farts”.
Fun times. Send help.

🌻 Family Fun Friday: Flower Press Bookmarks!
Turn a summer walk into a little family art project! 🌿📚
Head outside together and collect a few fallen flowers, leaves, and other small natural treasures. Then bring them home and turn them into beautiful homemade bookmarks.
Here’s the DIY:
🌼 Collect flowers and leaves
📖 Press them between sheets of paper inside a heavy book
⏳ Let them sit for several days
✂️ Glue the dried pieces onto cardstock
🎀 Add a ribbon or write a special message
Everyone can create their own design and then use their bookmark for their next summer read! 💛
It’s simple, inexpensive, and gives everyone a reason to slow down, get outside, and create something together.
