HOPE’s mission is to help low income residents maintain adequate nutrition and sustainability. One woman, Mary Lou McNaney decided to take a stand.
In 1984, the homeless population in New Rochelle, New York became a problem far too large to be overlooked. She reached out to churches, synagogues and community groups in an effort to fight poverty and hunger in New Rochelle. Soon enough, she created HOPE. Twenty Five years later, HOPE still strives to Help Our People Eat. Unlike many kitchens, HOPE not only provides its clients with food but allows them to maintain a sense of dignity in a friendly atmosphere helping HOPE kitchen feel less like a charity and more like a family. HOPE also provides for more than just the basic needs. Clothing, referential services, translational services, and citizenship courses are just a few of the many things HOPE can provide. Now the largest emergency food program in Westchester County, HOPE is supported by a network of volunteers who make it possible to serve meals from the soup kitchen and distribute groceries through the food pantry.

Shanah Tovah and a sweet new year to all our Kosher Pantry families! Our High Holidays distribution included apples and honey, glatt chicken, honey cakes, apple pie, and so much more in preparation for the new year celebrations! We are grateful for the work that our wonderful volunteers and staff put into this. Chag Sameach!

WHAT AN INCREDIBLE BACK-TO-SCHOOL CELEBRATION!
Yesterday was filled with BIG smiles, lots of laughter, delicious food, ice cream, and SO MUCH HOPE!
We were thrilled to welcome and serve more than 530 children and adults as our community came together to celebrate the start of a brand-new school year!
And let’s talk about Mickey and Minnie! They were a HUGE hit with children of all ages and helped make the day extra special!
A heartfelt THANK YOU to HOPE’s incredible staff and our amazing team of volunteers who worked so hard to make the day such a success. Your dedication, energy, and commitment to our community make events like this possible.

Today was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together to serve others with compassion.
A heartfelt thank you to Life Church New York in Mamaroneck for organizing the “Haircuts for HOPE” event and for their continued commitment to giving back to our community.
We are especially grateful to Pastors Wayne and Jim for their ongoing partnership, support, and shared dedication to helping our neighbors in need.
We also extend our sincere thanks to Meals on Main for preparing and providing meals for distribution, ensuring that those we served received nourishment.
To every volunteer who donated their time and talents today, THANK YOU. Your generosity helped create moments of connection and hope for so many individuals.
And a special shoutout to the incredible HOPE staff and volunteers whose dedication, compassion, and tireless service make our mission possible every day. Your commitment continues to strengthen our community and change lives.
