Research is getting a bigger say in business strategy. In Maze’s 2026 survey, 22% of respondents said research was essential to all levels of strategy and operations, up from 8% the year before. 📚
That puts more weight on how findings reach the people making decisions about priorities and funding.
In our latest article, Paige Maguire explores what this shift means for digital products and the research practices supporting them.

A guest’s priorities change throughout a cruise. We designed Viking Cruises’ mobile app home screen to keep up.
Before departure, the focus was travel checklists and reservation reminders. On board, daily plans took priority. In port, the screen highlighted when and how to get back to the ship.

Nobody set out to build a hiring doom loop. ☠️ 💼
Businesses can be overwhelmed with applications and still struggle to find the right candidates. For applicants waiting on a response, applying more widely can feel like the only option. That leaves stretched recruiting teams with even more to review.
Now AI is helping generate applications and screen them, adding another layer of uncertainty about what either side can trust.
Through our client research for a Gen Z career platform and the careers websites of a global food and beverage retailer, we spoke with candidates, recruiters, and hiring stakeholders.
Here’s what their experiences taught us about creating better hiring experiences and the digital platforms that support them.
Why Hiring Feels Broken in 2026 · Fueled Explore how research and design can reduce recruiter busywork, build candidate trust, and improve careers websites and hiring platforms.
