Through the efforts of our staff and volunteers we offer care and compassion to each and every animal in our shelter. Hard work, Dedication and Devotion to the animals, and the instinctive understanding that the animals come first.

Hi, I’m Fluffernutter! 💞
I’m Fluffernutter, a 4-month-old Boxer mix, and yes... FLUFFERNUTTER. That’s my name.
Please conduct yourselves accordingly. I was surrendered to the shelter because my previous owner was joining the Army and couldn’t keep me. Which was probably a bigger emotional event for the humans than it was for me because, quite frankly... I’M FINE. No dramatic staring out the window.
No sad violin music. No lying awake at night wondering where everything went wrong.
Guys. I’m four months old. I SAW A BALL EARLIER. I HAVE MOVED ON.
I’m a happy-go-lucky, energetic, wonderfully wild little puppy who is ready to get into a home and start my life! And yes... I am EXTREMELY ADORABLE. Please do not allow this to cloud your judgment.
Because underneath this precious little puppy face is a future adult Boxer mix, and the things that are hilarious when I weigh Puppy Pounds may become considerably less hilarious when I’m a full-grown dog.
Jumping on you? “Awww, Fluffernutter!” Pulling on the leash? “He’s just excited!”
Ignoring everything you say because I have discovered something more interesting? “Look at his little face!” NO. IT’S A TRAP. Do not let Cute Baby Fluffernutter sabotage Future Adult Fluffernutter.
I need a family who’s going to take my training seriously from the beginning. Teach me boundaries.
Teach me manners. Teach me how to walk nicely. Teach me how to control all this enthusiastic puppy nonsense rattling around inside my little body. Give me exercise. Give me structure. Use my brain.
And obviously... LOVE THE ABSOLUTE HECK OUT OF ME. I’m not looking for someone who expects a perfectly behaved dog to magically appear on my first birthday.
I’m looking for someone who understands that the wonderful adult dog I can become is something we build together. Right now? I’m a ridiculous little Fluffernutter. I’m happy. I’m wild. I’m adorable.
I’m full of potential. And I am completely ready to begin my new life.
Just remember: TRAIN THE PUPPY WHILE THE PUPPY IS STILL PUPPY-SIZED.
Future Fluffernutter will thank you.
And so will your furniture.😋

She went home to think about it. Rambo-Rex made sure she couldn’t think about anyone else. 🥹🦖🐾

Rambo-Rex has had quite the journey to get to this moment.

He came to us with injuries we’ll probably never know the story behind—half of one hind leg missing and another leg that had been badly broken and healed incorrectly.

But if you’ve met Rambo-Rex, you know one thing:

He has never let any of that define him.

So when his future mama came in looking for a kitten, she had one particularly important requirement. She has a big dog at home, so whoever she adopted needed to have the right personality and potential to fit into that family.

She met some of our cats…

But she just kept coming back to Rambo-Rex. 🥹

And then came the funny little coincidence that made him seem even more perfect:

Rambo-Rex had already been living in foster care with a big dog! 😂💕

Still, adopting a kitty with his medical history is a commitment, and she wanted to make sure she was completely ready for whatever his future might bring.

So she went home.

She thought about it.

She slept on it.

And the very next morning?

SHE CAME RIGHT BACK.

Because apparently one night without Rambo-Rex was already one night too many. 😭

She knew he was her boy.

And just like that, the little kitten who has already overcome more than most finally got the thing we wanted for him most:

A mama who looked at everything that makes him different, understood what caring for him might involve, and said:

“Yep. I want him.” 🥹💕

And judging by this adoption photo, we think Rambo-Rex is pretty happy with his decision too.

He’s got a mama.

He’s got a home.

He’s even got a big dog waiting for him.

Now our little wonky dinosaur gets to start his best adventure yet:

Being somebody’s very loved little boy. 🦖🏡🐾💕

Happy forever, Rambo-Rex. You earned this one. ❤️

🎤 EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: DUSTY SPEAKS OUT 🎤

After countless requests from the public*, Dusty has finally agreed to sit down and answer some of the hard-hitting questions everyone has been dying to know.

His favorite color?
His energy level?
His thoughts on the important issues?

Nothing was off limits.

And we have to say… he handled the pressure of the interview remarkably well. A true professional. 😂

For those who haven’t had the pleasure of meeting him yet, Dusty is currently available for adoption and would very much like everyone to stop treating this as an interview and start treating it as a job application for the position of Your New Best Friend. 🥹🐾

Please enjoy this rare glimpse inside the mind of Dusty.

We think you’ll find him extremely qualified. ❤️🏡

*There were no requests from the public. We just really wanted to interview Dusty.

Jiji did not wait to be chosen. She handled that part herself. 😂🐾🖤

Her papa came in specifically looking for a kitten to bring home, and when he met Sorrel—now Jiji—she apparently decided there was no need to keep looking.

She came right over.

Started playing with him.

Cuddled into his arms.

And basically said:

“Yep. I’ll take this human.” 😂

And judging by that first picture, she was VERY confident in her decision. Look at her already tucked into his arms like she’d been waiting for him all along. 🥹

So, naturally, Jiji went home with her new papa that day.

And then we recently got the update that makes this whole story even sweeter:

Her papa says she is the best kitty in the world and that he couldn’t be happier he brought her home. 😭🖤

Meanwhile, Jiji looks pretty pleased with her choice too. She’s settled beautifully into her forever home and is already living the very important house-cat life of cuddling, getting cozy, and falling asleep wherever she pleases.

From Sorrel at the shelter to Jiji at home. 🏡🐈‍⬛💕

Sometimes you pick the kitten.

And sometimes the kitten takes one look at you and says:

“That one. That’s my person.”

Happy forever, sweet Jiji. You chose VERY well. 🖤🐾🥹

**UPDATE: ADOPTED❤️**

Hi, I’m Turkey! 🦃🐾💕

I’m Turkey, a 3-year-old cat, and I’m going through a pretty confusing time right now.

You see…

I had a home.

I had a person.

She loved me very much, and as far as I knew, that was simply how my life was going to be.

Me and her.

My home.

My routine.

My person.

But then she passed away.

I don’t really understand what that means.

I just know that one day, everything I knew was gone.

There wasn’t any family who could take me in, and somehow I went from being somebody’s beloved little cat…

to sitting in a shelter.

And honestly?

I’M CONFUSED.

Where is my person?

Why am I here?

Who are all these people?

What happened to my home?

Nobody can really explain any of that to me in a way that a cat understands.

So right now, I’m a little shy.

I’m not going to immediately run up to a stranger and act like we’ve been best friends forever.

I’ve already had my whole world change once.

I need a minute.

But please don’t mistake my uncertainty for not wanting to be loved.

I know what having a person feels like.

I had one.

I know what it’s like to belong somewhere.

I know what it’s like to be cared for.

And somewhere underneath all this confusion, I’m still the sweet boy my person loved so much.

I just need somebody willing to give me enough time to find him again.

I need a family who won’t be disappointed if I don’t immediately understand that I’m safe.

Let me watch you.

Let me learn your routine.

Let me figure out where I like to sleep.

Let me discover that the food bowl keeps getting filled.

Let me realize that when you leave…

you come back.

And little by little, I’ll start understanding that this strange new place isn’t temporary.

It’s home.

I’m only three years old. I didn’t expect to have to start over this soon, and I certainly didn’t choose to.

But here I am.

Trying.

My first person loved me very much.

Now I’m looking for someone willing to love me through the confusing part until I’m ready to love them back.

I don’t need you to replace the person I lost.

I just need you to show me that I can belong to someone again. 🦃🐾💕

Hi, I’m Richie! 🐾

I’m a 7-year-old cat who found himself at the shelter after being surrendered by my previous owner.

When I first arrived, I would like the record to show that I was:

FURIOUS.

My previous family told everyone I was a friendly, affectionate guy.

The shelter staff kept repeating this information.

I initially provided absolutely no supporting evidence. 😂

But now that I’ve had some time to settle in, I suppose I have an update to make…

Maybe everyone wasn’t lying.

I’ve slowly started adjusting to shelter life, and little by little, we’re seeing more of the Richie my previous family knew. I’m getting more comfortable with the people around me and learning that maybe my entire life hasn’t been ruined after all.

That being said…

I am still Richie.

And Richie has opinions.

Sometimes I get annoyed. Sometimes things become a little too overwhelming. And sometimes, when I’ve decided I’ve had enough, I can lash out.

Subtlety has never been my greatest strength. 😂

What I really need is someone who understands cat body language, respects my boundaries, and knows when to give me space instead of pushing me past my comfort zone.

Because I can become overstimulated, I’d likely be happiest as the only pet in the home, where I don’t have to navigate the added stress of sharing my space with other animals. A home without small children would also be best for me.

I’m not looking for a chaotic household with everyone constantly in my business.

I’m looking for somewhere calm.

Predictable.

A place where I can decompress, learn the routine, and build a relationship with my person on my own terms. ❤️

Richie has already come a long way from the extremely disgruntled gentleman who first arrived at the shelter. We know there’s a sweet, affectionate cat underneath all those big feelings — he just needs the right person to give him the time and understanding to let that side of himself come out.

So yes, management is still Richie.

Management is just becoming slightly more available. 😂❤️

Please continue to direct all complaints accordingly. 🐾

**UPDATE: ADOPTED💕**

I’m Flop, a 5-month-old kitten, and I’d like to explain what I plan to do once I’m adopted.
Step one:
Enter home.
Step two:
Investigate everything.
Step three:
Play.
Step four:
Receive affection.
Step five:
FLOP.
Preferably somewhere comfortable.
Possibly beside you.
Maybe directly on you.
We’ll see how things develop. 😊
I’m a super sweet, affectionate little kitten who’s ready to have a family of my own.
I like people!
I like attention!
And I have absolutely no objection to being loved excessively.
Actually...
I WOULD ENCOURAGE IT.
I’m still only five months old, so don’t let my advanced flopping abilities fool you. There is plenty of kitten nonsense left in me.
I’ll play.
I’ll explore.
I’ll get into things.
I’ll make you laugh.
I’ll probably make at least a few decisions that leave you wondering what exactly was happening inside my tiny brain.
And then I’ll look adorable...
AND ALL WILL BE FORGIVEN.
That’s how kittens work.
I’ve got everything I need to become somebody’s wonderful little companion.
Everything except...
You know.
THE SOMEBODY.
So come meet me.
I’m Flop.
And I am extremely ready to flop down in my forever home and never leave.🖤🤎

Famous last words: “I’m not taking a cat home today.” 😂🐾💙

Besiki’s new mom came in with a plan.

She was interested in meeting a different kitten, and she was VERY sure about one thing:

She was not leaving with a cat that day.

Okay.

Sure.

Then, by pure luck, Besiki’s foster mom happened to be there.

And she did something extremely dangerous…

She put Besiki in her arms.

That was pretty much the end of that plan. 😂

This sweet boy cuddled right in, turned on the charm, and suddenly “I’m not adopting today” became “Well… I guess I have a cat now.” 🥹💙

For his foster mom, getting to actually witness the moment was incredibly special. She cared for Besiki from the tiny three-week-old baby who had been left outside in a tote bag, watched him grow into the confident, hilarious little guy he is today—and then got to place him directly into the arms of the person who fell completely in love with him.

Besiki once told us he had places to go.

Apparently, he knew exactly where. 🥹🏡🐾

Happy forever, sweet boy. And congratulations to his new mom on the cat she was absolutely, positively, definitely NOT adopting that day. 😂💙

Hi, I’m Flower! 🖤🌸
I’m Flower, a 5-month-old German Shepherd puppy, and I have...
THINGS TO SAY.
WOOF.
Did you hear me?
Good.
WOOF.
Excellent. 💕
I’m the barkier little lady around here, and while I’m sweet as pie, I am also a very smart young German Shepherd who is going to benefit enormously from having structure and boundaries in my life.
Because here’s the thing:
Right now, I’m an adorable little puppy barking at things.
Cute!
Funny!
“Oh Flower, you’re so silly!”
But one day I’m going to be a BIG German Shepherd.
And a giant adult dog who’s never been taught manners?
CONSIDERABLY LESS CUTE.
So please don’t adopt me and let me make all the household decisions because I’m adorable.
I am a baby.
I HAVE TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE.
I need someone who’s going to teach me.
What’s expected of me?
What isn’t?
When is it appropriate to bark?
When should I settle?
How do I walk nicely?
How do I control myself when something exciting happens?
TEACH ME ALL OF IT.
I’m smart enough to learn!
And that’s exactly why I need a family willing to put some effort into me.
German Shepherds aren’t decorative couch accessories. I need training, exercise, mental stimulation, consistency, and things to DO.
And after all of that?
Absolutely give me cuddles.
Because underneath my opinions and my enormous potential...
I AM SWEET AS PIE.
I’m only five months old.
I’m not a finished product.
I’m a little puppy standing at the very beginning of what could be an incredible life.
Give me the structure I need now...
and someday you’ll look at your amazing adult dog and think:
“WOW. WE DID GOOD.”

**UPDATE: ADOPTED💕**

Hi, I’m Amigo! ✂️🐾💙

I’m Amigo, a 10-month-old Maltese mix, and I recently underwent what can only be described as…

AN EXTREME MAKEOVER.

I was surrendered to the shelter because my previous owner simply didn’t have enough time for me.

And when I arrived?

Well.

There was another little issue.

MY HAIR.

Guys.

It was BAD.

My coat was so severely matted that moving around must have been incredibly uncomfortable and painful for me.

I was basically one giant walking knot.

There was Amigo somewhere underneath all that hair.

YOU JUST HAD TO DIG FOR HIM.

Thankfully, the shelter said:

“Sir. We need to do something about this.”

And I said:

“PLEASE.”

So…

✂️ Snip.

✂️ Shave.

✂️ Goodbye mats.

And HELLOOOOOOO…

HANDSOME!

Who knew?!

Apparently there was an extremely good-looking young gentleman hiding underneath there the entire time. 😂

More importantly, though, I am SO much more comfortable now.

I can move around without all that painfully tangled fur pulling at my skin, and I am officially ready to put my bad-hair era behind me.

Personality-wise?

I’M SWEET AS PIE.

I’m still only ten months old, so I’m a young guy with an entire life ahead of me. I’m looking for a family who actually has the time to make me part of theirs.

Time for walks.

Time for attention.

Time for love.

And…

TIME FOR BRUSHING.

Seriously.

Please buy a brush.

Maybe two.

Put one somewhere you can see it.

Set a reminder.

WE ARE NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN. 😂

My fluffy coat is going to need regular grooming throughout my life so it stays healthy, comfortable, and mat-free. I need a family who understands that grooming isn’t just about keeping me handsome—it’s an important part of taking care of me.

Although…

KEEPING ME HANDSOME IS ALSO IMPORTANT.

I’ve been surrendered.

I’ve survived the Great Mat Situation.

I’ve gotten my fabulous new haircut.

Now there’s only one step left in the Amigo transformation:

FOREVER HOME.

I’m sweet.

I’m young.

I’m freshly groomed.

I’m ready to be somebody’s best little Amigo.

Just promise me you’ve got a brush. ✂️🐾💙
