๐Ÿ€ Phelan Lucky isnโ€™t just for St. Paddyโ€™s Day. ๐Ÿ˜‰

October 22 is Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Awareness Day ( ) โ€” so weโ€™re asking our to and help us spread a little extra awareness on that Thursday. ๐Ÿ’š

And when someone asks, โ€œWhatโ€™s Phelan Lucky?โ€โ€ฆ tell them!

A few things they might not know:

๐Ÿ€ Phelan-McDermid syndrome (PMS) is a rare genetic condition caused by a deletion or change involving the end of chromosome 22.

๐Ÿ€ It can affect speech, development, learning, motor skills, sensory processing and so much more. Every person with PMS is different.

๐Ÿ€ Many people with PMS are minimally speaking or non-speaking, but that doesnโ€™t mean they donโ€™t have plenty to say, feel, learn, love and contribute.

๐Ÿ€ PMS is rare (approx. 1 in ~7,300 individuals have PMS in U.S), but our is mighty. Families and individuals around the world are working every day to increase awareness, support research and create better opportunities for those diagnosed.

๐Ÿ€ While doesnโ€™t define a person, it is a BIG part of their story. A story worth sharing.

So on 10/22:

๐Ÿ’š WEAR .
๐Ÿ’š TAKE a photo.
๐Ÿ’š TELL someone what PMS is.
๐Ÿ’š SHARE a fact or your connection to PMS.
๐Ÿ’š Post your Phelan Lucky shirt, TAG us, and tell us where you are and who you are supporting in honor of! ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ€

Make sure to CHECK the comments below for a special Facebook frame from Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation & CureSHANK that you can add to your profile with your photo to help spread even more awareness (or feel free to steal ours ๐Ÿ˜‰). ๐Ÿ’š

Phelan Lucky .
