If you’re lunging, you’re probably trying to go get the ball instead of letting your swing work through the zone.

High school hitters need to learn how to control their stride, stay behind the baseball, and let the ball travel.

The goal isn’t to jump at the pitch.

The goal is to be on time, balanced, and powerful at contact.

Stop Lunging Forward.

People underestimate the power of consistency.

Not the big moments.

Not the perfect facility.

Not the newest bat, glove, or cleats.

The athletes who separate themselves are the ones who stack the small reps every single day.

50 ground balls a day = over 18,000 reps a year.

100 swings a day = over 36,000 swings a year.

10 minutes on your mental game = over 60 hours a year.

15 minutes on one skill = over 90 hours of improvement.

30 extra minutes of sleep = over 180 hours of recovery.

That’s how you build a college baseball player.

Not overnight.

Not when motivation shows up.

But through daily, boring, consistent work that compounds over time.

If you want to play college baseball, start treating every day like it matters, because it does.

Fall is not “offseason” if you’re trying to play college baseball.

For high school players, fall is one of the biggest recruiting windows because coaches are actively watching games, showcases, and tournaments.

But most players make the mistake of just showing up and hoping coaches notice them.

That’s not a plan.

Before your fall events, you should be sending coaches:

Position

Make it easy for coaches to know where you’ll be and why they should watch you.

If you wait until summer to take recruiting seriously, you may already be behind.

Save this before your next fall event.

Most high school hitters focus on the swing itself…

But the launch position is what gives the swing a chance to work.

The right angles + enough space allow the barrel to work in the right direction and give hitters the adjustability they need to handle different pitches.

Don’t skip the position that sets up everything after it.

Stop flying open with your front side by developing a strong front side.

This will help you with:

✅Hit more breaking balls
✅Staying through the ball
✅Space & direction
✅Bat speed

Talent gets attention.

But discipline is what creates real separation.

The disciplined baseball player doesn’t wait until they feel motivated.

They show up tired.

They do the extra work.

They control their reaction after failure.

They prepare when nobody is watching.

They hold themselves to a higher standard.

That’s what coaches notice.

Because at the next level, everyone has talent.

The separator is who can stay consistent when the game gets hard.

If you’re a high school baseball player who wants to develop the discipline, mindset, and habits to separate yourself…

Stop looking for a hitting coach and expecting that working on your swing mechanics alone is what’s going to help you play in college.

What you truly need is a mentor who can help you develop not just your swing mechanics, but what I call a hitter mentality — or a competitor mentality.

Having a mentor who can help you on a daily basis, who has walked the same path you’re on, and who has played at the level you’re looking to reach is what will help you leverage all the hard work you’re already putting in.

It’s what will help you avoid wasting time on the wrong things — like chasing a good-looking swing without having the right system and mentality that truly help players reach their full potential.
