Yesterday’s thunderstorms caused significant damage across our service area, especially in City of Plainfield, NJ - The Queen City, Borough of South Plainfield, Township of Montclair - Government and South Orange Village. We know losing power is frustrating, and we appreciate your patience.

As of 3 p.m., we’ve restored power to over 60,000 customers, and our crews continue to work around the clock to safely restore everyone who remains without power.

If you don’t see a crew on your street, that doesn’t mean work isn’t underway. Restoring your power may start with repairs to equipment on nearby streets or equipment further away such as local circuits, or in some cases a substation that supplies your neighborhood. Those repairs sometimes have to happen before we can get the lights back on where you live.

Please stay safe around storm damage. Always consider downed wires “live” and dangerous. Stay at least 30 feet away and call us immediately at 1-800-436-PSEG (7734) or call 911.

Hot, humid conditions and scattered, potentially severe thunderstorms are expected across the state through the weekend. Our trucks are fueled up and our crews are prepared to work 24/7 to restore service as quickly as possible, should outages occur.

⚠️ If you see a downed wire, stay far away and always assume it is energized. Report it immediately and never drive or walk through standing water where a downed wire may be hidden.

⚠️⛈️ The risk for severe thunderstorms has increased for late this afternoon and evening, especially along and northwest of I-95. Any storms could be capable of producing locally damaging winds and heavy rainfall which could lead to flash flooding. Remain alert for changing weather conditions this afternoon and evening.

Prior to any storms developing, it will be another hot and very humid day, with heat indices near 100° in many areas by this afternoon. Stay hydrated and take frequent breaks if you must spend extended time outdoors.
