This storm continues to bring heavy rain, gusty winds and flooding — making restoration more challenging, as our crews can only begin restoration after conditions are safe for them to perform their work.

Strong, gusty winds caused damage to utility poles, transformers and wires throughout our area. We thank our crews for their hard work in these challenging conditions and appreciate your understanding as they continue to work around the clock to restore power to the 735 customers currently without service safely and as quickly as possible.

You may not see our crews on your street because oftentimes they must repair nearby equipment before power can flow back to your neighborhood.

Winds: We've already seen some strong winds overnight ( https://www.weather.gov/wrh/TextProduct?product=pnsphi&id=7579336e-39f6-4e33-93ef-8a89e0929b82 ). These windy conditions will continue through today and tonight. These strong of winds may make driving difficult, particularly in high profile vehicles.

Tides: We are entering high tide now on the oceanfront, so expect to see significant tidal impacts over the next few hours. Once we get through this high tide, we still expect to see coastal/tidal flooding impacts for the next 2 - 4 high tide cycles (depending on the location). Rain: Bands of light to moderate rain will continue through the weekend. It still looks like the risk for flash flooding is low, but slow rises on area waterways are expected. Currently, the only non-tidal river forecast to go into flood is the Millstone river in New Jersey. A strong nor’easter is expected to impact the state this weekend, bringing heavy rain, winds of up to 55 mph and possible flooding in some areas.

Rahway Public Schools stay busy throughout the day and into the evening. Not only are students there to learn, but beyond the classroom, the schools double as gathering spaces where marching band, theater club, youth groups and town organizations keep the buildings busy into the evening. 🏫

With so many people counting on these spaces, keeping them comfortable and functional matters. But decades-old heating equipment and hard-to-find replacement parts were making that increasingly difficult.

Through our Direct Install Program, Rahway’s four elementary schools are getting much-needed upgrades — and the difference is already noticeable.
