NJIT TRIO Programs
NJIT TRiO programs provide academic and effective support to help students overcome the barriers to higher education. Participants receive PARCC & S.A.T.
NJIT's TRiO programs which are funded under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, are a series of educational opportunity programs designed to help low income, first generation, and/or disabled Americans enter college. Talent Search welcomes middle school students between the 6th and 8th grade and high school students between the 9th and 12th grade. Prep services, tutoring for all subjects, a four or six-week summer enrichment program, financial aid service, counseling, and college tours and cultural trips. Upward Bound serves high school students from low-income families, high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree, and first-generation military veterans preparing to enter post secondary education. Upward Bound provides intensive academic preparation for courses such as Mathematics, English Composition, Biological and Physical Sciences, a foreign language, and Counseling. UB students also participate in educational field trips, workshops and career seminars. The six-week summer enrichment program includes a rigorous daily course load and a residential portion.
