San Miguel Program

San Miguel Academy oarsmen fled the nor’easter as they headed north for the Mohawk Fall Classic Regatta.

For the second year in a row, they dominated the field in the 3700-meter race with an impressive 2-minute first-place finish.

Congratulations to coxswain Fernando Ochoa and his crew - Ayden Castelan, Liam Gunera, Ean Alvarado, and Christopher Fragoso.

San Miguel Academy 8th graders were at The Mount Academy yesterday to cheer on the Boys Varsity Soccer team. They also ran into SMA Alum Zoe, Kenya, Aylen, and Nancy, who are students at the Mount!

We are grateful for our long-term educational partners, including The Mount Academy, who provide our students with outstanding academic and extracurricular opportunities and help them continue to thrive long after they graduate from SMA.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last Thursday evening at the beautiful Westchester Country Club Beach Club for San Miguel Academy’s 22nd Annual Defying the Odds Scholarship Dinner.

It was an unforgettable evening celebrating our students, our graduates, and the many people who make the San Miguel Program possible. From our incredible student rowers kicking off the evening to the inspiring stories, generous supporters, wonderful food, and lively celebration, the night truly reflected the spirit of San Miguel Academy.

We are deeply grateful to our sponsors, donors, volunteers, event co-chairs, families, alumni, and friends who continue to believe in our students and in our mission to break the cycle of poverty through education.

And a very special thank you to our wonderful host for the evening, Adriana Trigiani, for helping make the evening so memorable.

We are also incredibly grateful to acclaimed artist Lynn Mara for creating an original flag design especially for the evening, honoring America’s 250th anniversary and the students of San Miguel Academy.

Off to a great start! The 2026-2027 school year began yesterday at San Miguel Academy.

Thank you to the United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region for dropping off a bounty of school supplies for our teachers and students. It’s going to be a great year!

George Garcia, Boston College Admissions, gives SMA students Artie Liendo and Jyaire West a tour of the Messina College campus. Messina provides a supportive environment for first-generation learners. SMA is delighted that three of our alumni are currently enrolled at Messina - Janelle Garcia, Joseph Cordova, and Jordi Morales. A winning combination - Boston College and San Miguel Academy!

Oscar Liendo, SMA ‘23, Deerfield Academy ‘27, and Sinu Madhavan, SMA ‘28, dressed appropriately for Sunday Worship at Camp Dudley in Westport, NY. Both boys are on scholarship at the camp through their community outreach program.
