Next Thursday! Discuss classic literature inside of a beautiful historic home. The Classics Book Club is our new quarterly book discussion group hosted at the historic Crawford House (189 Montgomery Street). Swipe for a sneak peak of the room that the club will be hosted in! This program is in partnership with the Historical Society of Newburgh Bay and the Highlands

This season's read is Sense & Sensibility by Jane Austen. Sense & Sensibility is Austen's first published novel. It follows the lives of the Dashwood sisters after they are forced to leave their family estate in Sussex for a small cottage in Devon. This is an opportunity to discuss the book ahead of the Focus Features film adaptation that comes to theaters on October 16.

This program is hosted off-site at the Crawford House - 189 Montgomery Street, Newburgh

Join us for a screening and discussion of Rodney Freeman’s film Are You a Librarian? The Untold Story of Black Librarians. The documentary traces the journey of Black librarians from the era of slavery through the implementation of affirmative action policies. It highlights their pivotal roles in establishing libraries, promoting literacy, and advocating for equal access to information within their communities.

Join Legislator Gabrielle Burton Hill for the final meeting in our monthly Sojourner Truth Journey To Freedom community building circles. These dialogues will reflect on the topic of freedom and the legacy of Sojourner Truth and the bicentennial anniversary of her emancipation. October's event will also be the statue's send-off as it returns to New Paltz.
