Newtown Fire Rescue

Newtown Fire Rescue crews responded to three working structure fires over the past week, including one first-due working fire in Newtown Grant and two mutual aid responses, one in Lingohocken Fire Company local and one in Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company local.

The Newtown Grant fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office. Thank you to all of our firefighters and our mutual aid partners for their teamwork and dedication.

In the aftermath of last night’s storm there are still power outages across our coverage area. If you are oxygen dependent and are in Newtown Borough, Newtown Township, or Upper Makefield and in need of assistance, call us at 215 968 3500 Option 1 and please leave a detailed message. You will receive a callback from one of our officers. If you are having shortness of breath, chest pain, or any other type of medical emergencies please call 911 immediately. PECO is experiencing delays in its storm response due to the strike.

With the impending extreme heat hitting this week the Newtown Township Administration Building and Newtown Fire Rescue Station 45 will open to residents as a refuge from the heat. The Township building will be open from 8 AM to 4:30 PM at 100 Municipal Drive Newtown, PA 18940 (July 1 and July2) and Station 45 will be open from 6 AM to 6 PM at 14 Liberty Street, Newtown, PA 18940. Station 45 may be unoccupied if you stop by because firefighters are responding to incidents, but they will return. Our firefighters are on duty every day from 6 AM to 6 PM; residents can stop by anytime during working hours in addition to the offering of refuge during the heatwave. Yesterday we held our annual Newtown Fire Rescue Awards Ceremony to recognize members for their service and contributions over the past year.
Congratulations to our 2025 award recipients:
• Firefighter of the Year – Brian Jennings
• Chief’s Award – Warren Dallas
• President’s Award – Jennifer Gaynor

We also recognized Warren Dallas for an incredible milestone—50 years of active service to the Newtown Fire Association. His commitment and dedication over the past five decades have had a lasting impact on our department and community. Furthermore, we recognized past Chief Matt Gerhard for 25 years of service to Newtown Fire, which marks his life membership.

The final photo features our 2025 Top 10 Responders, recognizing the members who answered the most calls throughout the year.

Tonight our members had the opportunity to participate in a class from Temple Med Flight which included setting up a helicopter landing zone and familiarizing ourselves with the standard operations of critical care transport.

We are proud to congratulate two of our firefighters Chase Jones and Kieran Ward on their graduation from Council Rock North! We wish them all the best in their next chapter!

Today, Newtown Fire Rescue and Newtown Township proudly recognizes and celebrates the retirement of Firefighter/EMT Mike Bean after 28 years of dedicated service to our community.

Over nearly three decades, Mike has operated in many roles in our department including as a shift supervisor, and field training officer for new members of the department. Through countless calls, challenging incidents, and memorable moments, Mike has exemplified the commitment, professionalism, and selflessness that define the fire service.

His contributions have left a lasting impact on Newtown Fire Rescue and the residents we are privileged to serve. While his retirement marks the end of an extraordinary chapter, the legacy of his service and dedication will continue to inspire future generations of first responders. Mike is going to move on to continue his service to the community with the Bucks County Fire Marshal’s Office.

We had the pleasure of participating in the annual Newtown Memorial Day Parade to honor the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and takes time to reflect. Freedom is not free🇺🇸
