With more than 9 years at Nusbaum across two different chapters of her career, Shannon has become a familiar face and valued member of our team. Originally hailing from the United Kingdom, she brings positivity, dedication, and a genuine care for both our clients and coworkers. We're grateful to have her as part of the Nusbaum family!

What made you want to join Nusbaum, and what brought you back?

"I was originally drawn to Nusbaum because I heard nothing but great things about the company and its culture. I started as a receptionist, and with the support and encouragement of the people here, I earned my insurance license and grew into a role in Personal Lines.

I later left due to my husband's military career and a relocation out of the area. When we moved back to Virginia a few years later, I knew Nusbaum was where I wanted to be. It was familiar, welcoming, and a place where I always felt comfortable and valued. I was excited about the opportunity to return and continue growing in my career."

What's your favorite part about working at Nusbaum?

"My favorite part about working at Nusbaum is that everyone feels like family. People genuinely care about one another. I also love our monthly gatherings where we celebrate birthdays, work anniversaries, and each other's accomplishments."

"I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and my two dogs, Oreo and Teddy. I also love to travel, explore new places, and try new foods and restaurants wherever I go."

Every other month, we gather as a full group to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and to spend time together as a . Investing in our team culture helps us stay connected support one another and continue growing stronger together.

Yesterday, Xyn spent the day giving back at Norview High School, volunteering for Challenge Day, an incredible program that helps students build connection, empathy, confidence, and kindness.

Challenge Day brings students together to break down barriers, support one another, and tackle important issues like bullying, peer pressure, harassment, and social division. Through meaningful activities and honest conversations, students are encouraged to embrace their authentic selves and create positive change in their schools and communities.

One powerful lesson focused on the idea of an "Emotional Balloon" 🎈, showing how bottled-up feelings can eventually overflow if we don't learn healthy ways to process them. Another activity, "Drop the Waterline" 🧊, used an iceberg to illustrate how much of ourselves we keep hidden beneath the surface, encouraging students to be more open, authentic, and understanding of others.

Because the participants are minors and the experience is intentionally personal and phone-free, there aren't any student photos to share. But the impact made throughout the day speaks volumes.
