McLean County Emergency Management needs volunteers to be victims/patients for an upcoming full scale hazardous materials exercise. You must be 18 years of age or older. Information below!

McLean County EMA, along with several partnering agencies and multiple first responder departments, will be working together on a Full-Scale Hazardous Materials/Multiple Vehicle Accident scenario on the evening of Wednesday, August 5th.

We need volunteers to act as patients. While there will be no actual hazardous chemical, the full response will require decontamination so participants will get wet, some will be transported (by bus) to an area hospital so they can test their systems.

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE 18 YRS OR OLDER AND WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN A WAIVER.

Know the signs of heat illness!

Heat Exhaustion: Signs include heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, headache, and nausea. Move to a cool place and sip water.

Heat Stroke: A life-threatening emergency marked by a body temperature over 103°F, hot/red skin with no sweat, and confusion. Call 911 immediately and cool the person with wet washcloths.

In addition to dangerous heat today, the atmosphere is very unstable and conditions are right for the possibility of severe weather to develop as a result.
