“Oh, look at that,” Brady said, pointing out the window.
We all followed his gaze to see white flakes drifting down to the earth. Angela got up and pressed her face to the glass. “What is this?” she asked. “Do the angels have dandruff or something?”
Charleston let out a hearty laugh. “Of course not. It’s snowing.”
“No kidding,” Angela said in awe. “So this is what snow looks like.”
Angela is a Texas girl born and raised. Born in Houston, moved to New Braunfels when she was twelve and inherited her uncle’s townhouse in San Antonio when she was 21. She has never seen snow in person before, and neither has Brady, who also grew up in the south his entire life. Born in Sarasota, Florida and moved to Texas with his family when he was fourteen.
Katie walked up to her. “Is it all you thought it would be?”
“And more.” Angela made her way toward the door.
“Angela, what are you doing?” I asked.
She turned around. “What does it look like I’m doing? I’m going to go outside to see what snow is like for the first time in my life.”
“Dressed like that?”
“What’s wrong with what I’m wearing?”
Angela had on a canary yellow spaghetti strap tank top, a pair of white capris and white flip flops complete with plastic bright yellow flowers on the top.
I grinned. “Nothing, go ahead and have fun.”
She smirked back. “I don’t need your permission, but thank you anyway.”
Angela opened the door and rushed outside, closing it behind her. Five minutes later the door opened again, and she walked back inside shivering so hard her teeth started to chatter.
“Was it all you thought it would be and more?” I said.
Angela took a deep breath. “Shut up Ben.”
