Alabama A&M Athletics will present Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum recording artist and R&B legend Johnny Gill in concert during Louis Crews Classic Weekend, adding another marquee attraction to the annual celebrations. Gill will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at the Alabama A&M Event Center.

Alabama A&M University alumnus and creative professional Craig James Mitchell will return to campus Saturday as the featured speaker for the Freshman Torch Lighting Convocation, set for 6 p.m. at the AAMU Event Center. Symbolizing the passing of Bulldog tradition from one generation to the next, the Torch Lighting ceremony welcomes the incoming Class of 2030 to The Hill.

Keely N. Gooch, an animal bio-health sciences major from Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, is among a select group of students recently selected as a 2026 USDA 1890 National Scholar. The prestigious scholarship program supports students pursuing degrees in agriculture, food, natural resources and related sciences at one of the nation’s 19 historically Black land-grant universities established under the Morrill Act of 1890.

For Jordan Todd, performing with R&B icon Usher was more than a career highlight. It was the culmination of years of dedication, passion and self-belief. Todd, a Birmingham native and member of AAMU's House Arrest 2 Championship Dance Team, was selected through a video audition to perform during The R&B Tour: Starring Usher Raymond & Chris Brown.

Alabama A&M University Athletics announced Friday a historic partnership with Omni2Max Inc., making Alabama A&M the first HBCU to secure a corporate jersey-patch partnership for its football program. As part of the agreement, the Omni2Max logo will be displayed on Alabama A&M football jerseys, giving the professional technical services firm national visibility throughout the Bulldogs' season. The groundbreaking partnership represents a significant step in Alabama A&M Athletics' continued efforts to expand its corporate relationships, generate new revenue opportunities and elevate the Bulldogs' brand.
