Rehearsals began last night for the staged reading of Novid Parsi’s “The Life You Gave Me,” which will take place this Friday at 7:30 pm. Here’s our wonderful team sharing their responses after our first read-through. We all loved the play after reading it by ourselves, but hearing it out loud for the first time was a deeply touching experience.

"The Life You Gave Me" is an intimate domestic play about an Iranian-American man’s relationship with his mother. At the same time, it is an abstract metatheatrical play about a BIPOC writer navigating expectations around the stories he should and should not tell.

The Crossroads Project is excited to announce the winner of the 2024 Diverse Voices Playwriting Initiative! Congratulations to Novid Parsi, who will be workshopping his new play "The Life You Gave Me" with us at ISU in April 2024. The Crossroads Project is now accepting submissions for the 2024 Diverse Voices Playwriting Initiative! This is a new play development program for BIPOC playwrights. The winning playwright will be invited to Illinois State University in Spring 2024 for a workshop and staged reading of their play.
